Application for employment on an oil platform
Dear Madam or Sir,
After researching on employment opportunities on an oil platform and visiting your website, I would like to apply for a position with your company and hope you consider my unsolicited application.
Though I have no direct experience in this field, it represents a welcome challenge. Because of my educational and working experience, I am sure that I will orient well to the job and make a valuable contribution to your company. Having been trained in metal work, specialising in construction design, I have gained much experience in metalworking and mechanics. During my vocational education for example, I did on-the-job training, parallel to the career schooling, in a production shop building structures and panelling for winter gardens and façades.
Upon completing my 3 year vocational education, I worked as a temporary-career soldier for the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) for 8 years. I served in the weapons maintenance squadron, where my area of responsibility involved multiple types of repairs and arming airplanes. My tasks required a great deal of dexterity, accuracy and precision as well as teamwork. Indeed, these activities represented significantly dangerous situations that demanded the ability to work calmly under stress. Furthermore, I learned to work quickly and react flexibly given that “business as usual” often meant dealing with short-term and rescheduled assignments and the occasional random technical difficulties. Because I was swiftly adept with my work, I soon took on the additional responsibility of assisting in the training and orientation of incoming conscripts.
I hope that I have likewise been able to spark your interest as a potential employee. I thank you in advance and would be delighted to have the opportunity to interview with you personally.
