CV/Resume Details
1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
Dear Sirs
I have gone through the job requirements for the above position and I find myself suitable for these requirements.
I have considerable experience as a shipboard engineer, a marine department surveyor, a shipyard design engineer and finally a lecturer at the Singapore Maritime Academy in Singapore.
I have always been a very active person and my professional activities over the years are documented in my publications (see attached details in my CV).
During my sea-going years, I worked a number of years in German Shipping Lines, where I acquired experience in good engineering practice on both diesel and steam propulsion vessels. My steam experience was on a German oil tanker.
Later in a reputed Singapore shipyard, I worked in the Design Department as a Senior Design Engineer, where I was involved in many conversions including a number of oil and LPG tankers.
I was also actively involved in a storage tanker development project with associated boiler conversion for crude oil burning. The ship was classed under DNV and I eventually sailed as a guarantee engineer on board before handing over of the vessel to the clients in Indonesia.
Later while working in the Singapore Maritime Academy, I worked with DNV on a 2 years study for development of an expert system for Classification knowledge. I also worked as a Principal Investigator for a feasibility study involving ABS, NSSPL and Stanford University for developing a Dynamic Knowledgebase System for Maritime use.
Presently, I am running a successful knowledge-capture and knowledge management system, which is described in my attached publication.
I have recently developed a course for training of steam engineers for LNG vessels. The course model, developed by me, has been submitted by MPA, Singapore to IMO, London as an Innovative Model of Maritime Education.
Apart from my experience in various areas of marine technology, I have been specializing in capturing knowledge, which can be effectively used for better adherence of corporate programmes (maintaining corporate DNA through experience capture).
I was also the Secretary of IMarEst, Singapore Branch for three years and am therefore reasonably well-known among the local marine fraternity.
Looking forward to hearing from you. My present gross annual salary is S$ 150000 and I am holding a tenured position at the Singapore Maritime Academy. My expected salary is S$ 170000.
