FUGRO Maritime Services QHSE Advisor October 2007 to present
On board M/V “Bavenit”, a class II DP Geotechnical and scientific vessel implementing the bridging documents between FUGRO Maritime Services [as vessel operator], AMIGE [as vessel owner] and respective contractors [BP, Shell, Exxon, etc.] The responsibilities of the Offshore Safety Advisor including, but are not limited to, those contained in the following:
o support the shore based management in the Netherlands in the maintenance and implementation of the shipboard Management System in accordance with statutory rules and industry standards;
o assist during on board external audits;
o perform incident investigations;
o perform induction training for new personnel on board;
o be pro-active and work closely together with the Vessel Managers, Masters and Fugro Project Managers in complying with the client’s QHSE requirements;
o contribute to the QHSE awareness of all employees;
o keep up to date with the latest developments in QHSE standards and legislation and keep office and vessel personnel informed as appropriate;
o identify the need for QHSE training;
o provide training and safety and health information;
o develop and recommend measures for assuring personnel safety, and monitor and/or anticipate hazardous and unsafe situations;
o perform risk assessments / Job Hazard Analysis when required;
o take appropriate action to mitigate or eliminate unsafe conditions, operations, or hazards;
o document both safe and unsafe acts, corrective actions taken on the scene, accidents or injuries, and ways to improve safety to avoid or reduce future incidents;
o participate in planning meetings as QHSE representative.
