1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am currently seeking employment within the offshore industry in an entry level position such as a trainee or roustabout.
Up until November 2007 I worked for an internet company called Westnet Internet Services for over 3 years. I commenced working for them not long after completing my university degree and worked my way up into a supervisory position where I was responsible for a team of 13 to 15 individuals depending upon seasonal needs. I have also worked as a kitchen hand at Alfreds Kitchen in Guildford over the last 7 years and still currently do this one or two nights a week.
In November of 2007 I decided that I wanted a change from working behind a desk so I quit Westnet and gained employment for a company called Bowline Constructions. Initially I basically did general labouring duties but then gained my certification for dogging and basic rigging so have been doing this kind of work since.
I have recently completed an OPITO certified BOSIET course i.e HUET, First Aid, Sea Survival etc. In the near future I also plan to get my Intermediate and Advanced Rigging Tickets as well as my Basic Scaffolding certification. I am willing to do any further training or courses as recommended either once employed or as a prerequisite for employment.
I am looking for a position where I will be able to gain a foothold in the oil and gas industry while working offshore preferably as a roustabout or rigger so that I can work my way up through the drill floor. I have just turned 27 and am of solid build and physically strong as I grew up playing high grade Rugby League up until my early twenties. I am single, fit and healthy and am a non smoker and occasional drinker. I enjoy physically demanding labour so want to be in a position where I will be able to physically exert myself but also use my brain.
I have experience in a wide range of extremely different fields as highlighted in my CV. I am a hard worker by nature and am also a fast learner capable of acquiring new skills with minimal training. I have experience in shift work and working away from home for extended periods of time and I am not afraid to go out of my comfort zone.
At 27 I am still relatively young and given the appropriate guidance and training I feel that I have the necessary skills and ability to make the transition into any position in any industry. I can assure you that if I was offered an opportunity that I would very quickly impress no matter what the position.
