GREATER NILE PETROLEUM OPERATING COMPANY (GNPOC)

This company is now Exploring & Producing the crude oil in south Sudan and transferring it to Port Sudan at the bank of Red sea. From there the oil is exported. This company is having 9 fields named as Heglig, Unity, Munga, Neem, Difra, Eltoor, Elnaur, Tomasouth and Bamboo. Its corporate office is at Khartoum called as Khartoum Tower. In all these fields oil is taken by either PCP wells or ESP wells or both. In each and every field there is one FPF and at Heglig CPF. Here in the Power Plant at Unity, there are 10 nos. of 58MW Alternators at Unity and four 11KV/66KV, 16MVA Transformers. Out of these, two are feeding Power to Munga remaining are feeding to Tomasouth. Six Transformers of 11/33KV, 16MVA are feeding power to Munga and FPF at Unity. The following are the Equipments which are coming under my scope of maintenance activities as Electrical Engineer in this company thro’ IPEDEX

• Maintenance of 33/6.6/0.415 KV, 1.6 MVA Transformers
• Maintenance of 33KV/0.415KV, 500KVA Transformers
• Maintenance of 33KV/0.415KV, 150KVA Auxilary Transformers
• Maintenance of 33 KV Switch Gears (Alstom)
• Maintenance of 6.6 KV Switch Gears(Alstom)
• Maintenance of 33kv RMU’s in all the well site
• Maintenance of Vaccum and SF6 Circuit Breakers
• Maintenance of 280 KW, 6.6 KV Induction Motors for crude oil Export pump
• Preparation of Maintenance History for Transformers, SWGRs & Motors etc.,
• Preparation of Inspection standards for all electrical equipments.
• Assisting in FIP whenever required
• Assisting the Maintenance Supervisor in getting the spare parts for the Equipments.
• Knowledge in Feeder management relays, Transformer management relays, Motor management relays O/C and Earth Fault relays, Differential relays and Distance relays (all ALSTOM / MICOM) etc.,



MAJOR MAINTENANCE WORKS CARRIED OUT @ GNPOC

• Partial Shutdown Maintenance of 33kv SWGR has been carried out for continuous 6 days in section “A” and same as in section “B”
• All Tests such as BDV Test, Hi Pot Test for Bus Bar, TTR test for VTs has been carried out.
• BDV Test for VCB has been carried out.
• BDV Test for Incomer “A” and “B” and for the Feeders.
• 3 Line VTs of 33KV/110V has been replaced as one of them was burnt.
• 33KV, 95 SQMM, XLPE/PVC/ UG cable from RMU Building to Auxiliary Transformer of 150KVA, 33KV/415V, DYn11, 50HZ ONAN in one of the Fields has been replaced as the Phase “C” is found to be Earthed in Hi Pot Test.
• Corrective maintenance in 500KVA 33KV/2500V433V ONAN Dyn11Yn11 Transformer.
• Other Tests and maintenance activities for the Equipments shall be carried out according to the maintenance plan.

This company is a leading Contracting Company approved by Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia. Al Osais is taking contracts in Aramco for Construction, Maintenance and Shut Down projects in Refineries, Oil Fields etc., in this company I have been worked as Electrical Engineer for shut down project in Petroleum refinery at Yanbu. NEYVELI LIGNITE CORPORATION LTD.,

NLC is one of the Central Government Organizations in India. This is one of the Major Thermal Power Stations in India. This is having Two thermal power stations called TS I and TS II. Here the Lignite is the source available for boiling the water to drive the steam turbines. The major potential of NLC is that the availability of plenty of Lignite in Neyveli. Here there are two mines. To cut the lignite from its lignite bench bucket wheel machines are used. To transfer it from the bottom lignite bench to the storage yard Stacker machines are used and for further transfer from storage yard to crusher unit reclaimer machines are used. NLC has given a contract to siemens for the Erection of Electrical Equipments in these Machines. Siemens has given another contract to Babu Engineering Corporation which is one of the Leading Electrical Contractors in India. This company is a Building contracting company in Seeb at Oman. This company has taken a School Building Contract with Ministry of Education (MOE) at Oman. In this company I have been appointed as Electrical Engineer and the following were the responsibilities for me.

• Preparation of Shop Drawings in AutoCAD for electrical lighting, power, fire protection and P.A .Systems.
• Checking of BOQs with the tender drawings.
• Preparation of MAS for all the electrical materials used for construction.
