SHIP DESIGNER-SENIOR PIPING ,SHIPBUILDING QC Inspector, SHIP testing leader ,Team Leader , Group Leader & Company Internal Quality Auditor(since 2000 until May 17,2008) : A position where solid background in ship piping design ,ship machinery group supervision on ship machinery piping and outfitting design works, shipbuilding production inspections and ship testing leader(sea trial) for machinery part including mainly the managing function as group leader for about two years handling fourty designers and engineers in machinery design group. Current exposure working as marine mechanical engineer in an oil and gas company doing FPSO/FSO conversion projects for about three months.Would accept new challenges.

About 15 years of combined experience in detailed ship machinery piping and machinery outfitting designs, management responsibility and other experience inclusive of one year intensive technical training in Tsuneishi Shipbuilding,Japan for machinery piping and machinery outfitting jobs and thirteen months exposure as shipbuilding QC inspector on Tsuneishi Heavy Industries(shipbuilding sister company) in Balamban, Cebu, Philippines representing design.Had been sent to Japan for various business trips and training related to work.
As of present, an additional experience and exposure on oil and gas FPSO jobs as marine mechanical engineer for hull and marine department at MODEC.

Starting with my QC inspector experience on shipyard ,my main tasks are the checking of various owner requests and shipbuilding yard feedbacks and production and other main checking jobs starting from all ship blocks and tanks(hull fitted and independent tanks) welding checking, surface preparation checking prior to painting, preliminary painting checking, secondary coating painting checking of paint thickness(dry film thickness) and other checking such as internal piping installations and supports prior to ship owner inspections and approval and do also some inspection works and approval as delegated by ship owner representatives. Also checking of actual piping designs in yard and making counter measures and corrections for any owner and yard comment items. QC main jobs are to give outright daily reports and discussions with ship owners and representatives after having done the daily reporting to shipbuilding QC manager. For any feedback repairs, discussion with classification society will also be made. Main task of shipyard workmanships checking is to ensure owner utmost satisfaction and at the same time maximizing the better quality of both ship design and its shipbuilding workmanships. Daily feedbacks to main office(ship design) for outright application to ongoing designs and future applications.
My main specialty includes the machinery piping designs of Bulk Carriers(28,000 dwt cargo capacity bulk carrier, 45,000 dwt cargo capacity , 52,000 dwt cargo capacity , 58,000 dwt cargo capacity and currently the 82,000 dwt cargo capacity bulk carriers )Pure Car & Truck Carriers, Chip Carriers, Shuttle tanker and Aframax Tankers.

Ship Design capability includes: Comprehension of various Piping Diagrams(accommodation diagram, general piping diagram in engine room, hull piping diagram ,compressed air diagram,CO2 diagram, foam extinguishing system diagram) and also comprehension of ship hull deck constructions including its drawings , Pipe Line Planning, Piping Arrangements in engine room, Detailed Pipe Piece & Pipe Supports for feed water piping system, steam piping system, exhaust steam and drain piping system, lubricating oil filling and transfer line system, lubricating oil service system, lubricating oil drain line system, fuel oil filling and transfer system, fuel oil service piping system, fuel oil purification piping system ,fuel oil drain piping system, freshwater service piping system, main cooling freshwater piping system, auxiliary cooling freshwater piping, fire bilge and ballast piping system, scupper drain piping, exhaust gas and mist piping system, control air piping system, general service air piping, starting air piping system, main cooling sea water piping system, auxiliary cooling sea water piping system, fire and wash deck piping system, Soil Pipes, Accommodation Drainage (Sanitary), Air Vent, Fire & Wash Deck Line, Fresh & Hot Water Lines. Inter-section discussions and consultations with hull piping, electrical team, accommodation piping team, hull construction teams and other related teams.

My extensive experience also includes the comprehensions of various equipments such as pumps, heaters ,plate and shell and tube coolers, main air compressors, boiler, incinerator, freshwater generator, generator, incinerator and also main engine maker’s drawings for piping arrangement applications. Job experience also includes the positioning of overboard discharge valves in engine room and also the piping of double bottom tanks including its steam heating. Calculation of pipe size be done to use the minimum size ,effective and cost efficient in heating the fuel oil stored in fuel tanks. Studying and comprehension of ship hull construction drawings is needed for my other type of job which is to provide the foundation for various equipments to minimize vibrations when the ship is sailing and also to locate the strong points or location of hull construction for the provision of pipe supports. Hull construction drawings were also being studied for the easy arrangement of piping in engine room. Provision of steam tracing lines for fuel oil pipes is one also of my job experience. Preparation of following purchase orders specifications be made in relation to machinery piping jobs: Bolts and nuts for auxiliary machinery foundations, bolts and nuts for piping in engine room, packings for piping in engine room, packings for exhaust gas pipes, special flanges for overboard discharge pipes, scuppers and hoppers in engine room ,local thermometers in engine room, miniature valves in engine room in engine room, etc.

Ship testing leader(machinery part:engine room):Other special experience is being one of the member of ship sea trial team for machinery part and later become the machinery part sea trial team leader.Usually testing of about one vessel per month will be tested.The vessel which we do the ship machinery piping will be tested prior to ship owner ace[tance and delivery including claasification acceptance and requirements.The said experience is very important since ship machinery designing and machinery outfitting is not only limited to drawings and designing but also to actual witnessing and confirmation of various equipment performances with the application of various piping systems in engine room. This activity main purpose is to verify, record and make recommendations for all machinery part equipment testing including vibrations (Ship Main engine performance, pumps, heaters, plate and shell and tube coolers, compressors, boiler, etc.) such as its design parameters such as its working temperatures and pressures for design development and reporting to ship owner and classification society. The most important objective of sea trial machinery part is the main engine fuel oil consumption verification including the main engine performances( if it meets its guaranteed fuel oil consumption in relation to ship speed and load, main engine starting tests(12 minimum starts for Class NK,12 consecutive starts for class LRS) done at 50% ,75% 85% and 100% loads if it meets classification society requirements, main engine minimum shaft revolution when vessel is on port area maneuver when rudder is maneuvered at 35 degrees for both port and starboard, the boiler evaporation measurement if it meets the boiler guaranteed steam production by using both exhaust gas of main engine and by use of oil burner, the confirmation of boiler steam relief valves if it functions when the boiler is of over design pressures, the confirmation also of engine room vibrations and make some counter measures such as additional supports to be made on-board. It also includes the confirmation if the vessel steering gears would be efficient enough in maneuvering when the vessel is maneuvered both in hard starboard and port rudder angle at about 35 degrees for bulk carriers. Classification time requirement for steering gear maneuvering is also being verified. The time from dead ship condition until its recovery were also being tested and confirmed for classification approval. Main engine vibrations confirmations and other abnormalities will be confirmed.

Machinery outfitting jobs experience include the arrangement and detail designs of gratings/stages in engine room for equipments maintenance, operation and passages. Arrangement of ventilation ducts including its duct piece detailing for fabrication purposes. Arrangement of equipments in engine room also adds up my experience including the provision and arrangement of main engine exhaust gas pipes in engine room until funnel. Funnel piping arrangements jobs were also experience as part also of my one year extensive training in Japan. Provision also of boiler support or stay to withstand the engine room vibration and potential damage when the vessel is already on voyage.

Skills in project & time management, job load planning & scheduling, hands-on machinery piping design trainer, system documentation, quality control, feedback handling concerning customer / client relations, program development and implementation. Had been numerously assigned as ship staff hereby doing the over all checking of other design jobs on a vessel project to check all the requirements from ship building specifications, owner specification and requirements including classification society requirements including the application of various piping diagram requirements.

Duties include:
1. Prepares and updates machinery piping and outfitting design manuals.
2. Prepares and updates checklists for various machinery piping arrangement jobs.
3. Prepares man-hour quotations
4. Monitors and controls actual utilization of quoted man-hours
5. Prepares weekly and monthly accomplishment report to management
6. Prepares and assigns qualified candidate for yearly dispatching schedule of staff for training or skill level up and business trip in Japan

Some counter measures and trouble shootings or recommendations and upgrading in designs for future design and development will be carried out in result of the actual sea trial testing of ships from the start when I was a design engineer until present

QC Inspector on shipbuilding

2001– 2002
1. Inspects daily the shipbuilding production of blocks,tanks, etc. more specifically on its welding,surface preparations prior to painting, post painting inspection including final paint.
2. Inspects all of ship’s compartments/blocks prior to ship delivery.
3. Attends various ships actual testing on sea representing design side machinery part to ensure and verify if machineries in engine room had function according on its design and make any counter measures and trouble shootings for any problems.
4. Reports to design side any design developments ,yard feedbacks and owner feedbacks and classification comments during shipbuilding blocks inspections and actual installation reports.
5. Functions as team leader while doing this QC inspection assignment.
6. Does daily the discussion and reporting to QC manager and ship owners and representatives regarding the production inspection progress ,owner comments and requested items prior to its application until its completion.
7. Ensures ship owner owner and representatives utmost satisfaction at the same time maximizing both design side and shipyard workmanships better quality.

Senior Design Engineer 1993– 2000
Comprehension of related piping Diagrams, Pipe Line Planning, Do the Piping Arrangements, Detailed Pipe Piece & Pipe Supports of piping in engine room, Soil Pipes, Accommodation Drainage (Sanitary), Air Vent, Fire & Wash Deck Line, Compressed Air, Fresh & Hot Water Lines as well as preparation of Ducting and Lighting Arrangement from pre-design stage to completion using sometime manual drawing but mostly AutoCad for Bulk Carriers, Pure Car & Truck Carriers, Chip Carriers,shuttle tankers and Aframax Tankers.

Coordinates and interfaces with other design members (Hull Piping, Interior /
Accommodation outfitting, Hull Outfitting, Hull Design, Machinery and Electric
Design Teams) to discuss vague points of design.

Prepares high quality designs, plans and drawings that will meet or exceed
customer’s satisfaction.

My special experience started when I was chosen to do the sea trial testing of our designed vessel/ship and being part of machinery sea trial team that includes the various ship sea trial testing to ensure and verify if machineries in engine room had function according on its design and make any reporting to ship owner on the result of the testing including classification societies. Some counter measures and trouble shootings or recommendations and upgrading in designs for future design and development will be carried out in result of the actual sea trial testing of ships from the start when I was a design engineer until present.I did the testing and submit to sea trial team leader for his reporting to owner and ship classification society.
