1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

An experienced Health and Safety practitioner with management experience and a vast range of expertise in the industries involved in oil and gas extraction (on and offshore), high risk process and operations in remote or hostile areas of the globe. A team player who leads by example and an excellent communicator is able to compile detailed reports and carry out audits, reviews and investigations to a very high standard. A qualified trainer able to deliver specified training to the workforce, conduct safety inductions and carry out competency checks of contractors and staff. Familiar with Safety Management Systems (HSG65 & OHSAS 18001), Safe Systems of Work, HASAWA 1974, PFEER 1995, COSHH 2002, LOLER 1998, WAH 2005, CSR 1997, and other H&S regulations and ACOPs. Always promotes a positive Health & Safety culture at all times and strives to make the workplace a “Zero Injury” environment, whatever the processes involved. NEBOSH, IOSH and City & Guilds qualified and a practitioner of Continuous Professional Development. Available to work worldwide at short notice.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

FEBRUARY 2008 - PRESENT DAY: ORACLE SAFETY ASSOCIATES LTD.

Acting as an associate consultant I have been responsible for planning and delivering safety training programs which include NEBOSH and IOSH courses, manual handling, risk assessment, permit to work, confined space entry and safety management systems to clients engaged in high risk processes which include bio fuel production, transportation and storage. I have also carried out detailed audits, risk and hazard inspections, fire safety inspections, reviews and implementation of safety management systems (HSG65 & OHSAS 18001), DSE inspections and accident, incident and near miss investigations.

DECEMBER 2005 – FEBRUARY 2008: GOLTREE (WINT & KIDD) LTD, SIERRA LEONE.

Working on a consultancy basis as project HSSE Manager in close conjunction with the company directors I developed Safety Management Systems and Safe Systems of Work for a remote area bio fuel process located in Daru, Sierra Leone. Processes for which safe systems were identified and implemented included competent person assessment and induction, Health & Safety training of Local National staff, mill and process plant construction, transport systems (land and water), emergency response and crisis planning, occupational health monitoring of workforce, COSHH assessments, PTW system, ATEX zone training and awareness. Implementation of a Safety Management System (HSG65) was necessary, as was an environmental impact assessment and staff training to ensure that safety was the number one priority throughout the project.

AUGUST 2004 – DECEMBER 2005: ASSOCIATED PRESS, IRAQ.

Contracting as a Health, Safety & Security Manager in the Baghdad News Bureau, I was responsible for leading a team of Local National and Expatiate safety and security (armed) practitioners. Duties included audits and reviews of existing safety management systems, ensuring that employees followed a safe system of work, risk assessments, the investigation of near misses, incidents and accidents, the maintenance of specialist vehicles and emergency response equipment, training of Local National and expatriate staff, competency checks and skills verification of employees and contractors, record keeping, first aid and trauma support. My remit covered Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan and the UAE.

FEBRUARY 2004 – AUGUST 2004: BBC NEWS, IRAQ.

Contracting as a member of the BBC News Bureau Baghdad Safety and Security Team. Responsibilities included ensuring that safe systems of work were in place for tasks undertaken, risk assessments, ensuring that base life support systems were adequate and of required standard, planning the safe movement of employees throughout Iraq and neighboring countries, managing a Local National workforce of 25 persons, providing first aid, primary care and trauma support, ensuring that vehicles were operated in a safe manner and maintained, liaison with the military, FCO, government departments, enforcement bodies and British Embassy staff.

JANUARY 2003 – FEBRUARY 2004: OFFSHORE SAFETY TRAINER/OFFICER, NIGERIA

Operating offshore on a semi submersible as Rig Safety Trainer/Advisor (Apex Energy). Duties included safety inductions, toolbox talks, investigation of near misses, incidents and accidents, assisting OIM and monitoring emergency drills, maintenance and inspection of fire fighting equipment, first aid equipment and emergency response equipment. To ensure that good house keeping procedures were in place and followed. I was also responsible for recording Health & Safety relevant data and advising managers and OIM as appropriate. To ensure that safety cases were adhered to and that safe systems of work were followed in all onboard processes i.e. PTW’s, PPE, H2S monitoring, health monitoring, evacuation drills etc.

MAY 2002 – JANUARY 2003: SEISMIC SURVEY, PAKISTAN.

Contracting as a Health & Safety Advisor deployed in support of seismic survey operations (BGP/CNPC) in Pakistan (Sind). Duties included induction training, ensuring that procedures were in accordance with the clients operating and safety case protocol, maintenance and inspection of emergency response equipment, safe fuel bunkering, training staff in regard to first aid, mountain operations and helicopter operations, tool box talks, monitoring camp life support facilities, ensuring that at all times a safe system of work was in place for all processes, investigation of near misses accidents and incidents. I also carried out safety training for those who were required to travel in helicopters, and conducted 4X4 driver training.

JULY 1999 – MAY 2002: SEISMIC SURVEY, YEMEN.

Contracting as a Health, Safety & Security Advisor deployed in support of seismic survey operations (Dove & DOE) in Yemen (Mesila and Hadramout. Duties included induction training, ensuring that procedures were in accordance with the clients operating and safety case protocol, maintenance and inspection of emergency response equipment, the safe handling, transport and storage of explosives and detonators, safe fuel bunkering, training staff in regard to first aid, desert operations and helicopter operations, tool box talks, monitoring camp life support facilities, ensuring that at all times a safe system of work was in place for all processes, investigation of near misses accidents and incidents. I also carried out safety training for those who were required to travel in helicopters, and conducted 4X4 driver training.
