I have over 21 years of experience in the aviation industry. In my current position as a Warrant Officer in the Australian Defence Force, I am responsible for the operation of airborne command and control systems including the utilization of numerous electronic sensors. I am qualified as an Airborne Electronics Analyst with specialist skills in the operation of Radio, Radar, Infrared and Acoustic systems.

My experience and knowledge has led to a number of instructional and representational roles throughout my career. Effective team player with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Major Qualifications include - Diploma of Applied Science, Diploma of Business, Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency, Flight Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency, Global Maritime Distress and Safety System General Operators Certificate and Helicopter Underwater Escape Trained.

Because of my military background, I am accustomed to frequent location transfers. My willingness to travel, relocate and quickly adapt to local conditions may be an advantage to your organization. I effectively coordinated and supported overseas operational and exercise deployments of up to 20 personnel, including the Middle East, Asia and Europe. Due to the regular travel, I am experienced in dealing with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Airborne Electronics Analyst (AEA) - Warrant Officer Feb 1990 - Present

Flying AP3C Maritime Patrol Aircraft
· my airborne duties involve operating EL/M-2022 Radar, Star 2 and Star 3 Saffire Electro Optics Systems (FLIR) and other sensors that are integrated into the aircraft’s Mission Management System. I am also required to communicate with air, ground and maritime agencies using VHF, UHF, HF or Satcom radio systems.
· throughout my career I have been awarded numerous Category “B” qualifications. This category is classed as “above average” when compared to my peers and is only issued to a select number of individuals.
· I have amassed nearly 5000 flying hours in 18 years as Aircrew.
· I help plan and conduct the numerous deployments both in Australia and internationally. This includes organising - customs and quarantine, accommodation, meals and transport requirements for up to 20 personnel.
· My current rank of Warrant Officer is the highest level one can attain within the Non-commissioned ranks of the Australian Defence Force. To make it to this rank requires excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage others. Some of these skills have been gained as part of the promotion process, which requires all prospective candidates to undertake leadership and management training.
· I supervise and manage all junior operators at the Squadron.
· I have also had the opportunity to conduct an exchange to the UK in 1999 to fly on the RAF Nimrod MPA. This allowed me to experience other Radar and Electro Optics Systems and enhanced my knowledge of how another nation employs it’s Maritime Patrol Aircraft.

Acceptance Test Director Jul 2002 - Jan 2005

P3C Orion Upgrade Project
· The ½ billion-dollar project’s aim was to replace the older P3C avionic systems to more technologically advanced systems. As the Test Director for the project, I was responsible for managing a team of approximately 15, which had to deliver a product that met the Commonwealth’s test standards. The scope of testing included extensive ground and airborne checks, which on average took around 3 weeks. The project finished ahead of schedule.

Teaching Underwater Acoustic Analysis
· The position was initially established for a Commissioned Officer, but my superiors believed I had the required teaching and management skills as a Warrant Officer, so I took up the position for nearly 3 years. The majority of the courses were pitched mainly at junior ranks throughout the Australian Defence Force, although up to 3 courses per year were run for overseas personnel of various rank structures. I managed a team of 5 instructors that were responsible for conducting all courses.
· While instructing at AJAAC, I would be giving daily presentations to an audience of up to 30 personnel of various backgrounds and experiences. Following courses, I would then have to write reports on all students and forward them on to their respective managers. At times, this was also followed up by a verbal report where some negotiation would be required.

Instrument Fitter Jun 1987 - Feb 1990

· Conducted Instrument Fitter training at RAAF Base Wagga which entailed - engineering calculations and drawings, advanced aircraft maintenance, instrument principals and practices, flight instruments and advanced electronics.
· I was awarded a Distinction for my training. The first distinction ever for Instrument Fitting in the RAAF.
· I successfully conducted specific training on the P3C Orion’s instrument systems in the following areas; Instrument Systems Course - allowing me to perform operational level maintenance. Flight Director and Horizontal Situation Indicator operational level maintenance course.

I have had widespread experience with the use of computers over the course of my career in the Defence Force. During my time at AJAAC, I converted the course form a paper-based to a computer-based course. This involved the extensive use of programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.

In all defence departments that I have worked, a generous knowledge of Microsoft Office Products has been expected, as these are the systems that Defence uses to exchange all types of correspondence.

In Melbourne, all of the Test Plans were submitted, analysed and updated using Microsoft Word. Data on test results was entered in both Excel and Access formats. I consider my knowledge of each of these products to be quite extensive.
