I joined the merchant navy in 1988 and worked my way through the ranks until I was promoted to 3rd engineer. After this I did some contract work before gaining employment offshore where I was employed as a Chief Mechanic and now as a Maintenance Supervisor.

I have passed high school (grade 12) and obtained my Engineering Officer's certificate of competency. I have had training in hydraulics, refrigeration and electronic engine diagnostics. I also hold all relevant offshore certification and STCW 95 certification.
