Administration and coordination of the usage of information technology resources aboard cruiseships. I had to provide technical assistance to passengers, staff and crew. My responsibilities included: Installation and maintenance of all computing equipment and resources in each department; to manage the usage of the (ship’s)-computer network(s); to ensure that critical (administrative) data were properly backed-up; to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of pc's; to supervise department heads in usage of new (network) programs and to provide local training of ship’s personnel on computer skills.

a) My former duties
were to operate, maintain and monitor shipboard computer systems for the Point of Sales (POS) and Property Management Systems (PMS). Support of the onboard Hotel Computer Systems, maintain uptime, provide user training support for new applications. I was responsible for internal control of the system, data integrity and database security. I was responsible too (in cooperation with the
electricians) to repair all related automation-, computer-, POS and PMS equipment used on the vessel. I furthermore had to work with and assist shipboard personnel in identifying needed

With computers, specific kinds of equipment, machinery, etc. (continued) modification and enhancements to board systems and provide minor programming support when required and to provide operational (and technical) support for the shipboard Marine-, Hotel Inventory- and Payroll system. Finally I had to perform various miscellaneous projects involving computer systems support.

Coordination and administration of people, projects and budgets; at work, in voluntary work (for example culture and sports) and at home, etc. During my work as ship’s radio officer it was my duty too beneath the communication- and computer works to prepare the declaration lists, check-in and –out papers in foreign ports, to assist the master to clear the ship and represent the company. Administration and ship’s office works, ship’s general and telecommunication accounts as well as maintenance and repair of electronics and navigational equipment also belonged to my job duties. In foreign ports I not only once was asked to visit German Consulates or Ambassies to update the ship's musterlists and other papers. At the same time it was my duty to take care of computer-, electronic- and other spare parts for the radio station, which were necessary to buy, but not available on board. I also very often had to take care about the ship’s agent, the port authorities, health authorities, water police and inspections by the ‘black gang’.

Communication (valid radio officer’s license for HF, VHF, UHF; SHF, EHF, GMDSS (GOC)) Phone, Telex (Sitor, Maritex, Navtex), Fax + Wxfax Data (X.25). Administration of ship’s offices (declarations, check-in / out) and ship’s accounts.

DRIVING LICENCE(S) European (International) Licenses for cars and small vans and motorcycles

Looking for Employment as communication- and / or computer officer (System Administrator / Information System Manager / Internet Manager) or any relevant job, which consists of / includes (satellite) communication and / or management of computers. Alternatively crew purser, broadcast technician, radio officer or deckshand in the (private or chartered) yacht service.

Health After a recent laboratory/blood test by the German health authority “Seeberufsgenossenschaft” (SeeBg) my health was found to be excellent and without any problems.
