1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
I am very interested in apply for the advertised post of structural analyst engineer. I believe that my experience of working and running the stress analysis part of the business in my current post along with my strong academic background makes me ideally suited canditate.
For the last seven year I have worked in a small-medium size consultancy provider working for a wide range of industries in vastly different application with a client base that spans the world. My experience with Abaqus and other FE codes for solving challenging problems and offering realistic solutions to clients has been the main feature of my work in my current post. This I believe has given me the necessary experience and the business development skill which I would like to use to further my career and to take on new challenges in a global organisation
Please contact me if my experience and skills meet your requirements.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]
A highly experienced finite element analyst with demonstrated capabilities and versatility of applying skills with success in different areas of industry. After completing a PhD degree on ductile fracture of metals subjected to high strain rates and impact loading, spent 8 years at universities of Leeds and Sheffield working on industry sponsored development projects in the areas of high rate and impact analysis of metals, fracture analysis and thermo-mechanical processing of metals and polymers. Joined MERL in 2001 as Head of Finite Element Analysis Services offering consultancy to oil and gas, automotive, biomedical devices, land transport, aerospace and defence industries on primarily non-linear analysis of components and structures consisting of polymers in general and in particular elastomers and composites. Specialist in fatigue life predictions of elastomeric components and automotive BIW adhesive bonded joints. Also involved in EU and UK sponsored public sector funded projects.
Work Experience:
2001 to date Principal Scientist and Head of FEA Services,
Materials Engineering Research Laboratory (MERL)
1999-01 Research Fellow, School of Mechanical Engineering,
University of Leeds
1989-99 Research Associate, Department of Engineering Materials,
University of Sheffield
1994-89 Research Engineer, Department of Mechanical Engineering,
University of Leeds

3. Education & Training - CV/Resume Part 3 [Mandatory]
PhD Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds, UK, 1993
MS Mechanical Engineering, Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA, 1989
BS Mechanical Engineering, NED University, Karachi, Pakistan, 1985
Experience and Responsibilities in the Present Post:
The main responsibility is to provide finite element based analysis services for bespoke projects, joint industry projects and public sector projects. This involves dealing with initial technical inquiries from clients, developing these into detailed proposals, managing projects, performing analyses, writing technical report and liaising with clients. Responsible for providing bespoke training courses on advanced analysis techniques to clients. Also responsible for training and development of staff and management of analysis resources.
The analyses provided are primarily for components and structures that include polymeric and elastomeric parts either at product development and design optimisation stage or to identify causes of in-service failures. The analyses range from routine non-linear stress analysis to fracture and fatigue life predictions of components with elastomers and structural adhesives. Most projects have strong experimental links from material model generation to validation of analysis.
The client base includes the major oil and gas companies, automotive OEMs and their suppliers, major rubber manufacturers, biomedical device manufacturers and land transport operating companies.

4. Computer Skills - CV/Resume Part 4 [Mandatory]
• Over seven years experience of managing projects involving non linear finite element analysis in the current post. These include design evaluation, product optimisation, failure analysis and life predictions. Experience of writing public sector proposal for EU and UK funding.
• Advanced user of finite element analysis codes with nearly 20 years experience in primarily non-linear and large deformation analyses of metallic and polymeric materials. The experience includes static and transient analyses, plasticity, nonlinear analysis, time dependent analysis, thermal analysis, diffusion analysis, fatigue and failure of adhesive, elastomers and composites.
• ABAQUS suit of codes (both standard and explicit) is the main FE code used in recent years for solving range of linear and non linear problems. Past experience includes codes ANSYS, MARC, DYNAD3D and Hypermesh.
• In depth experience of experimental testing facilities and test rigs for measurement of constitutive response of material over a range of temperatures, strains rates and test set up for component level validation tests.
• Developed and implemented user subroutines in Abaqus and constitutive and fracture modelling routines into DYNA3D, DYNA2D and NIKE2D FE codes.
• Experience with FORTRAN and VISUAL BASIC programming languages and CAD software.
