I have 17 years experience in Control Room Operations to include multi Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shut Down panels (ESD) and Fire and Gas panels.
I have extensive knowledge of emergency procedures and I am used to accepting responsibility for operation of complex plants, such as a hydrogen gas production plant, reboilers, cracker reformer, absorbers/desorbers, steam generation plant, water treatment facility, general utility and tank farm systems in a safe and efficient manner.
I have recently completed and passed with a grade Credit the N.E.B.O.S.H (national examination board in occupational safety and health) general certificate Level 3 to enhance my safety knowledge.

The duties of the Lead Technician are that of the Production Technician listed below plus the following:-
•Lead multi functional teams of up to 8 including deputising for shift manager
•Develop and write operating procedures and risk assessments
•Issue and police of permit to work/hot work/confined space certificates ensuring compliance with site and corporate directives and incorporating the LOTO procedures
•Working knowledge of Pre start up safety review and HAZOPS
•Complete audits of specified areas e.g. housekeeping and behavioral safety
•Training of new recruits
Duties of the Production Technician include: -
•Control and direct the operation of complex processes by operating multi DCS (Emerson Provox and Delta V) control panels
•Field operation of plant e.g. centrifugal pumps, centrifugal fans, lobular vacuum pumps, Babcock boilers, pressure swing absorbers, Rolls Royce compressors, etc
•Record keeping including maintenance of both electronic and written logs
•Obtaining process samples for analysis to manage ongoing quality control
•Undertaking plant preparation for maintenance including flushing and purging
•Troubleshooting using various process monitoring tools such as Aspen Tech & IP-21 data historian systems
•Maximise reliability by preventative maintenance and raising work orders using the JD Edwards’s software system

In 2007 was selected to work on a site in China assisting in commissioning a new £25m fumed silica facility for which I personally received the Company’s Award for Excellence. Also spent seven weeks at our Midland USA plant in 1998 as part of a small commissioning team to help start up a new production facility. During these periods delegation, coaching and communication skills were necessary to achieve our goals.
Approached by company management to implement and perform the training of new recruits, it has previously included the operations manager, process engineers and production operators.
