2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

Career Summary :
August 2008 to Present: Unemployed

From July 2006 to August 2008: Self Employed (Publican – The Black Horse Public House/Restaurant, The Green, Bilton, Rugby)

After purchasing the lease and undergoing a small refurbishment I re-opened the business
and after 6 months increased the annual turnover by 15%, I was responsible for 8 employees and endeavoured to create a team environment to work efficiently and politely dealing with our customers which would therefore increase profit. I solely dealt with the stocktaking, ordering, and purchasing of all products required by the bar and kitchen. I also ensured my staff were trained, and carried out there daily duties up to current health and safety standards.
During opening hours (11.30am – Midnight, 7 days a week) I worked alternatively in the Kitchen and behind the bar, wherever I was needed most at the time, dealing with all customer queries and requests. I was also responsible for my employees wages and tax contributions on a weekly and quarterly basis


From August 2001 to July 2006
: Airwave Plc O2 Radio Network Manager ( Network management centre - NMC )

At present I am working as a Systems support engineer on a 24 hour shift rota as part of a 5 strong team in the Airwave Network Management Centre in Rugby HQ. Our primary customers being the emergency services. We are responsible for Providing diagnostics and fault clearance of customer reports involving answering technical queries from the customer. Prioritising work, ensuring that the highest priority work is done within targeted time scales.
Representing o2 professionally, promoting and maintaining relationships both to our customers and internally within the company.
We are responsible for the day to day running of the Airwave Tetra network involving the oversight of both internal and external planned engineering works. Network management/monitoring, system configuration changes, liasing with both internal and external customers. I am used to working under pressure and to tight time scales. In addition to being PC/IT literate I have gained experience in using HP Openview and Unix on LANS/WANS.


From November 1999 to August 2001 : BT Plc
Domain Officer ( Work Manager Centre - WMC )

Working in the Work Manager Cntr for the Coventry CST ( customer service team ) as a Domain Officer. My main duties consisted of the guidance and support of field engineers in all aspects of their tasks in both repair and provision of telephone systems / single lines, including Data / ISDN / ADSL. This included engineers that were controlled both maually and who worked to the work manager system. Other duties involved liasing with colleagues in KCI ( keep customer informed ), Sales and Fault reception, updating them on the progress / fluidity of Installation / repair tasks.
The skills that I have acquired during my career with BT and benefited me whilst working in the WMC are my knowledge of CSS, Work Manager both externally and internally, my ability to read and understand cable drawings and prints, and 12yrs experience of being a good customer service eng in the field dealing with both business and residential customers face to face on a daily basis.
I always showed a positive approach having had to work within tight resource constraints and changes within the LSMU, RSMU, and CST. During all these changes I was flexible and openly encouraged a positive attitude within the team.


From June 1987 to November 1999 : BT Plc
Maintenance Cable Jointer / Customer Service Engineer
On joining BT I started as a member of the maintenance group at Rugby. My duties included the maintenance, faulting and jointing of E-side ( Exchange side ) and D-side ( Distribution side ) cables in the underground and overhead telephone network. After company re-structuring I moved on to become a customer service engineer, this included the installation and repair on both underground and overhead networks between telephone exchanges and customers premises for business and residential customers.
During this period I also stood in for the Survey Officer during holiday / relief periods, this involved liasing with new customers and contractors, planning work to their specification which involved arranging wayleaves, obtaining planning permits etc with local council authorities and overseeing the execution.
