2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

EXPERIENCE:
V.Ships Leisure – Technical Superintendent West (Jan.2008 – Present)
In December 2007 Majestic America Line outsourced its vessel management operations to V.Ships Leisure. I was hired by V.Ships as a Technical Superintendent. I assisted in the development and the approval of technical items for the 2008 dry docking/repair availabilities of three U.S. Flag, overnight passenger vessels. I managed the on time and on budget completion of concurrent major overhauls and maintenance and repair projects of these vessels during a 4 month time period. I was responsible for development and maintenance of the cost tracking for all projects involved with each vessel. This involved conducting: surveys of on board equipment and systems to determine the necessity of repairs or upgrades for FY 08 and FY09 repair availabilities; the development of specifications for said projects; evaluating contractor estimates to determine the optimum candidate for on time, under budget completion; providing direction to and coordination of onboard staff, contractors, naval architects, and shipyards regarding repairs and upgrades; maintenance of established avenues of communication between vendors/contractors and onboard staff/owners keeping all involved updated on current progress and completion; ensuring all installations and repairs were completed to the satisfaction of the owners and all involved regulatory bodies.
The following is a general list of projects managed during my tenure and involvement with these vessels: main propulsion and auxiliary engine routine overhauls and repairs; routine overhauls and repairs of z drives propulsion systems and components; main shaft bearing overhauls and replacements; 600 VDC propulsion and pump motor installation, conductor repair, bearing replacements, commutator resurfacing; generator removal and replacements, cleaning (dip/bake), bearing replacements, and stator repair; Installation and commissioning of radars, satellites, chilled water refrigeration compressors and refrigeration units, chloropac systems for sea life control in salt water systems; main and emergency switchboard and control cabinet routine maintenance, reconstruction and repair; major and minor steel superstructure and hull steel replacement and repair; shipboard system design, regulating body approval, installation and testing.

Majestic America Line dba America West Steamboat Company – Port Engineer (Oct. 2006- Dec. 2007)
I assisted in the development of the budgetary figures for the 2007 dry docking/repair availabilities of four overnight passenger vessels and the timely completion of all emergency repairs during the 2007 operating season with minimum operational down time. I managed the technical operations on a daily basis for all four vessels which included the following: development of Preventative Maintenance Procedures (PMP) for two vessels and implementation of vessel specific plans on all four vessels; installation and implementation of a ship management program aboard one vessel and development of forward thinking plan for utilization ashore/onboard fleet-wide within a 2 yr period, organization and oversight of all scheduled and unscheduled contractor work and repairs, preparation for and completion of all quarterly and annual regulatory body inspections.

America West Steamboat Company (Dec.04-Oct 06)
Chief Engineer – Empress of the North (Dec. 05 – Oct 06)
As Chief Engineer I was responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of all propulsion equipment, engines, deck machinery, electrical, refrigeration and sanitary equipment aboard the vessel. I oversaw the installation and repair of systems and equipment onboard by outside contractors during operations and scheduled layups. I directed, coordinated, and exercised functional authority for the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects on board. I was responsible for completing outstanding USCG and ABS quarterly and annual inspections.

First Engineer – Empress of the North (Dec. 04 – Dec 05)
I supervised and coordinated the day to day work activities of officers and crew engaged in the operation and maintenance of propulsion equipment, engines, deck machinery, electrical, refrigeration and sanitary equipment aboard a 250 passenger overnight cruise ship. I was responsible for the maintenance of the engine room inventory, preventative maintenance log, work order log, and machinery history reports.

Weeks Marine, Assistant Engineer – R.N. Weeks (Jun. 03 – Nov. 04)
I was as an Assistant Engineer aboard an unlimited horsepower split hull (hopper) dredge. I supervised a 12 hour watch in which I operated and maintained a diesel electric plant (10,000Kw) of six 3516 CAT diesel engines, hydraulic open/close systems, dredge equipment, and various D.C. motors, a record logbook, prioritized engine room situations and alarm responses, and implemented company policies and procedures in daily engine room operation.
