Director of Purchasing

Oversee the purchasing functions for the entire company (3 shipyards).
Plan, develop, and direct all aspects of procuring machinery, equipment, spare parts, tools, raw material, services, and supplies in all 3 yards.
Coordinate with project management, production and engineering on new building projects. Maintain vendor performance records and develop vendor relationship strategies. Responsible for an annual spend of $60+ million, negotiating contracts including blanket agreements and bulk commodity pricing agreements.
Delivered $200,000 in savings by re-establishing cycle counts on $2-million inventory.
Saved $80,000 in personnel costs by consolidating purchasing and inventory control.
Played key role in the ISO 9000 certification process, by establishing procedures for purchasing, inventory control and receiving departments.
Analyze markets on a consistent basis by using internal and external resources and identify different sourcing channels, making sure consisting supply of material and services. Oversee all inventory control and reports. Determine appropriate inventory levels. Maintain, review and report the material part of project budgets.

Obtained savings of 75% on the communication cost between the vessels and the office. Analyzed and negotiated contracts with key suppliers.
