1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
My experience has been that of leading a team that is performance orientated towards achieving set objectives. Primarily within a purchasing environment where the overall requirement has been that of cost/time saving while meeting the deadlines set. This has taught me to approach tasks with a positive, can do attitude most often resulting in an equally positive outcome whilst maintaining the high standards of honesty and directness.
2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]
I Managed the Baku Purchasing, within Dubai Purchasing office, with 1 dedicated project buyer and 2 expeditors also supervised the remaining 6 buyers, warehouse, and import – export shipping teams.
For the upgrade of the pipelay barge, LB Huseynov, I was also the capital equipment buyer, required to source world wide plus dealing with shipping logistics to ensure deliveries met project requirements. This included 4 totally enclosed 70 man lifeboats out of The Netherlands, an aluminium catamaran from Perth, Australia, and the redesigned winch equipment, both forward and aft, from UK, for the barge. This was fully sourced and accepted by client and engineering department and my responsibility was in rewriting the terms and conditions of purchase for this US$ 3 mil project and ensuring delivery was acceptable for project requirements.
3. Education & Training - CV/Resume Part 3 [Mandatory]
My education has been more centred in experience than formal education. I did take some time out to take some Open University courses from ome which resulted in credits for successfully completing the following courses. Technology Foundation T101 1 Credit: Social Science Foundation D101, 1 Credit, and Cognitive Psychology DS262 ½ Credit. As this was done after work I could not continue beyond this. I joined the local Speakers Club as I felt nervous about public speaking especially in front of an audience, and became the President of the club and chaired the meetings.
4. Computer Skills - CV/Resume Part 4 [Mandatory]
The company I was employed with had an in-house system which changed from a mainframe to stand alone PCs during the mid 80s. There after I have been conversant in a large number of software systems before settling on Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. When I first worked in Azerbaijan I was presented with an Apple Mac and told to go away and learn how to use it. I did this and set up the first purchase logging system in the Baku office which developed into the main reporting system allowing the client access to all orders logged, money committed and progress with ETA of all orders in the system at any time. This was further complicated by the constant power outages which could have been disastrous.
5. Other Skills - CV/Resume Part 5 [Optional]
I believe my main skill to be in communication and have tried to develop this to its fullest. This is I hope best expressed in my dealings with people in negotiating and obtaining all the relevant facts before committing to a course of action. I am able to make quick decisions when needed based on the available information, but am aware of the possibility of short comings in this course of action and normally advise against this while equally aware of the danger of continuing to gather information and never coming to a conclusion. A few years ago while making a speech at a wedding I identified I was not comfortable making speeches in front of strangers. I joined the local Speakers Club and from there became the president and chaired the fortnightly meetings. It was only by facing my fears that I was able to overcome them.
6. Additional Information - CV/Resume Part 6 [Optional]
By being positive about my aims I have exceeded the expectations expected. I lead from the front and would not expect anyone to do anything I would not do personally. I believe that only by pushing and driving is it possable to identify limits.
