1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

Currently serving as a Mechanical Technician in the North Sea, is a highly experienced and very competent ENGINEER, very motivated, even under stressful conditions. Having successfully completed two leadership courses, is a strong team leader, and member, who enjoys a hands on approach to work. During a 22 year career in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineering Artificer, has represented senior management, and ensured during those periods, that ships propulsion plants and machinery have been maintained to a very high standard, enabling ships to go to sea when required. Benefiting from on job training, has been able to fault diagnose and rectify defects on a wide range of machinery, approaching each problem with determination and stamina. Rewarded for hard work and diligence, and enjoying a career in the offshore industry, is now looking to apply these skills and qualities further.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

 1985-1988 Marine Engineering training at HMS Sultan in Hampshire followed by three years serving on two ships as a marine engineering mechanic. Duties included operation / maintenance of auxiliaries such as water distillation systems, various pumps, sewage treatment plants, hydraulics, diesel generators, vent, air conditioning and shifts on the propulsion plant.

 1988-1989 Lagging course followed by one year hot and cold lagging work, including lagging of HM Submarine nuclear reactors.

 1989-1990 Sixteen months at sea, promotional exams, propulsion plant shifts

 1990-1991 Promotional course including maths, engineering science, workshop manufacturing, electrical technology, refrigeration and auxiliaries.

 1991-1992 Sixteen months at sea as a senior marine engineering mechanic in charge of three diesel generators and two water distillation plants.

 1992-1995 Two and a half years working on a shore based maintenance team in Plymouth naval dockyard, supervising small teams of engineers.

 1995-1997 Two and a half years on Royal Navy Marine Engineering Artificer Apprenticeship course including fitting/turning, gas turbines, power and distribution, leadership skills, controls, materials, brazing/welding/sheet metalworking, thermo dynamics, fluidics and many other subjects.

 1997-1999 Two years at sea as a propulsion plant operator, spending many shifts in the Ships Control Centre and shifts in switch rooms as switchboard operator. Supervising small teams of engineers on refrigeration/air conditioning/vent systems when not on shift in the control centre.

 1999-2001 Two years at sea as a propulsion plant supervisor, overseeing propulsion plant operation and responding to emergencies to safeguard men and machinery during shifts in the ships control centre. When not on shift, supervising teams of engineers ensuring maintenance carried out on time and to a high standard.

 2001-2007 Five and a half years working on a shore based maintenance team as a Chief Petty Officer, specialising in refrigeration and air conditioning. Managing a team of up to 12 personnel overseeing work and ensuring all work carried out to a high standard and within time constraints. Royal Navy leadership course. Completed 22 year Royal Navy career in January 2007.

 2007- 2008 Currently employed as a Mechanical Technician after previous employment as an HVAC Technician on two platforms.
