To Whom It May Concern,
I have been employed for 20 plus years as a Mechanical Technician, with 13 of those years in the North Sea and abroad in the oil industry. Being self-motivated I have gained considerable experience and knowledge in all areas of my job. I am a highly enthusiastic and competent individual who is able to work independently or as part of a team. My outgoing personality reflects in my work ethics and I am able to accept a high level of responsibility to effectively complete tasks with a high standard of quality, in a safe and prompt manner.
For 13 years I have worked as a Mechanical Technician, a Lead Technician, Senior/ Foreman Maintenance Technician, employed by Wood Group Engineering Offshore and for the last 12 months I was contracted with Wood Group International as Supervisor for B.P. Algeria. Wood Group is a large Oil and Gas contract company who supply a work force to B.P, Shell and various other Oil Companies around the world.
My training was obtained via a 9000 hour apprenticeship in Fitting, Turning and Machining, with Trade and Advanced Trade Certification. As you can see from the details on my attached resume and certificates I have the necessary trade background coupled with extensive experience in maintenance and commissioning /GOC, having worked with machinery and equipment such as a large range pumps, turbines, gas and air compressors, pressure testing, valves and gearboxes, diesel engines for fire protection and emergency power generation.
I have demonstrated sound analytical skills, the ability to effectively observe, plan and prioritise tasks and have a high degree of mechanical aptitude, yet I am always willing to learn how to improve my skills. As with all positions safety is of up most importance.
I currently live in Australia with my family and possess a New Zealand passport with a 5 year UK Ancestry employment visa.
Please find attached my current resume and certificates outlining my work experience and qualifications. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my application further.
