1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

I am a Holder of both deck and engine room Certificates of Competency.

For the past 21 years I have been employed solely in the Maritime Industry on various vessels as Master and/or Engineer in line with the capacity of my qualifications.

During This period I have also enjoyed being involved with the manufacture and installation of various types of floating docks and piled docks.
I have also operated cutter suction dredges and all associated equipment on dredging contracts both in Australia and Indonesia.

My record of safety is impeccable, never having experienced a lost time injury or accident in over 20 years of Maritime Industry work. I am experienced in the use and implementation of the I.S.M. code on board vessels and always keep all my safety management requirements up to date as I feel it is an excellent system that benefits all.

My vessel handling skills are excellent on any size of vessel including single and twin screw vessels as well as Z-pellor arrangements.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

February 2008 – Present. Master: Indies Trader vessels. Operating Indies Trader 1 as pre survey, support and chase vessel during seismographic survey in the Malacca straight, Makassar straight and Ardjuna oil field. Performing side scan and bathymetric surveys .Operating Indies Trader IV in west Sumatra.
December 2007 – January 2008. Master: Mv. WongLoi. 68 metre AHTS. P.t. Indoliziz. Java sea. Duties include standby vessel for drill ship, bulk and deck cargo for same vessel. During this project I was involved in the salvage of a 50,000 ton FSO that had been blown ashore due to breaking its moorings in heavy weather. As lead tug in the project I was instrumental in organising the effort of all parties in involved to get this vessel off the reef and stabilized over a three day period.
March 2007 – December 2007. Master: Marsol Pride. 60 metre AHTS. D.P.S 1 Fi Fi 1. 1798 Grt. P.t Seahorse pacific. Operating in the Gulf of Papua. Operations include: Static tow for tankers, cargo, bulk, oil field standby and various tasks such as anchor wire replacements and mooring wire survey, inspection and repair. Duties include implementation and audit of our ISM system and full adherence to all applicable conventions.
December 2006 – March 2007. 2nd Mate: Pacific Barbarian. 66 metre, AHTS. D.P.S 2. +/- 1600 Grt. Swire Pacific Offshore. Operating in Equatorial Guinea. Vessel performed all oil field services including anchor handling, rig tow, oil spill clean up and carrying deck and bulk cargo. Duties as Safety Officer with some vessel handling during deck and bulk cargo work.
June 2003 – January 2006. Captain: Indies trader fleet of vessels. P.t. Surfindo Nusantara Maritime. Indonesia. Fleet Captain: Indies Trader vessels. Five long range, luxury charter boats 23 - 35 Mtrs LOA. Responsible for all operation and maintenance, crew training and operations. Duties include accounting for all ships finances, scheduling, administration and port and flag state issues. In addition, I was required to liaise closely with our clients to plan our day to day operation and location to best effect. During my employment with this company I was heavily involved with doing tsunami relief work after the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in Indonesia.

March 2003 – June 2003 Dredge Operator: Hastings. 20 Metre cutter suction dredge. Indonesia. Dredge operator at K.P.C. coal mine in Kalimantan. Operating cutter suction dredge and setting up all pipe and pump work. Job involved daily operation and maintenance of the dredge and doing quantity surveys. This position was a short term job which enabled me to return to Indonesia where my family and I wanted to live.
June 2002 – March 2003 Tug Master: TB Willie Tell. 700 hp twin screw tug. Birdon Marine. Victoria, Australia. Tow of dredge and other equipment to sites around Port Phillip and Westernport Bay. During this period I learnt to operate dredges, as well as plan and set up various pipe, pump and survey operations, undertake towing of submerged pipe lengths over 1000 metres long and set up multiple tows.
September 1999 – July 2001 Port Captain/relief Master: 2 x 2500hp tugs. 270 pax fast ferry. Duties included design and construction of three docks for the ferry operation and creation and implementation of an extensive safety and loss control program to meet the projects needs in the marine field. Whilst employed in these tasks I started an emergency response program and drills for a range of marine emergencies. Included in the program were hands on fire training, oil spill control and evacuation of people from major civic disturbances.
February 1998 – June 1999. Captain: Indies Trader I and Trader II. Duties as described in recent employment with Indies trader vessels. Responsible for three month refit done on the Indies Trader II in Singapore, rebuilding both main engines and both generator sets. Apart from the physical aspect of this work I was also responsible for purchasing all our spares and consumables for 2 vessels for the next 12 months. I found this task to be a very intense negotiations process and took up a considerable part of each day. The skills that I gained through this period have been invaluable; I have continued to be able to reduce costs while maintaining a high standard on my vessels.
September 1987 – December 1997. Deckhand, mate and skipper. Australia, America, Europe and Caribbean Islands I started as a deckhand on a deep sea lobster boat in Tasmania and worked my way up to skipper, before leaving the fishing industry to work on trading vessels. During this time I pursued experience through ferries, tugs and charter boats. Throughout this period I have been involved in many large vessel refits which generated an interest and ability in all mechanical and electrical systems on ships. Attained Master Class IV and Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 at the Australian Maritime College.
