Portables Technician/ Kitchen Hood Inspector
Responsibilities: Main focus of RSSR is to service and inspect fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and restaurant fire suppression systems, identify and coordinate repairs. Inspections. This was also done by completing assigned inspections, as well as actively soliciting end-users. Perform routine inspections, testing, and installation of fire extinguishers, emergency lights, kitchen hood systems, and special hazard system (i.e. FM200, intergen, carbon dioxide etc. Evaluate and generate complete, accurate and legible reports of inspections, including any deficiencies that may require recertification. Prepare and install fire suppression hood systems, laying and threading of pipe. Meet customer expectations while performing quality inspections and installations. Worked in environment that involved climbing ladders with equipment. Worked in small cramped spaces, and above ceilings. Had to respond to mishaps in emergency situations. Maintain all certifications from all suppression manufacturers.

Fire Protection Specialist

Duties as fire protection specialist are as follows: respond to fires, emergency medical, hazardous material, and similar emergencies. To protect life, property, and the environment. Perform various task such as advancing hose lines, carrying tools (i.e. axes, high-rise packs crowbars, ladders, and various firefighting supplies. Connection of supply lines to hydrants), while applying various firefighting techniques, (i.e. vertical, horizontal ventilation, rescue, salvage and overhaul, fire cause determination, and vehicle extrication). In the performance of duties specialized personal protective equipment was worn and self contained breathing apparatus where dangerous, uncontrolled environments and conditions existed. Participated in well planned, organized, and regularly scheduled training activities(i.e. ladder evolutions, fire attack tactics, hazardous material handling, incident command exercises, basic firefighting techniques, fire theory) to maintain and improve job skills, proficiency, in firefighting, fire prevention, education, public safety, fire inspections. Worked in fire prevention issuing fire and hot work permits, fire safety and education classes, fire safety shows. Also conducted inspection of warehouses, office buildings, child care facilities, ammunition sites, fuel storage facilities, maintainence, and repair centers. Conducted fire drills, correction of alarms, testing of sprinkler systems. Assisted in fire prevention by conducting walk through of work stations, and fire suppression systems aboard ship. Performed maintenance, test, and inspection of hoses, fire pump systems, and portable and fixed fire extinguishing systems. As member of the shipboard fire fighting brigade performed duties as nozzle men, and confined space entry. Conducted gas free inspection on confined space areas before any entry or hot work was performed. Assisted the filing of reports, processing, and dissemination of information.
