1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
I have been working on board merchant ships as a Marine engineer for the past 12 years.
Presently I work as Third Engineer/Second Asst.Engineer.
I have been out at sea for the past 12 years, working on different kinds of ships mostly oil tankers (crude oil, product and chemical tankers) and also on a Vehicle carrier ship presently on a dredge ship (trailing suction hopper dredger). I have had exposure to all kinds of machinery onboard the ship, having individual responsibilities over all the machines. The experience I got from this has built in a lot of confidence, to be able to handle all situations with ease.
2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]
Last I worked for Essar shipping on a new VLCC - MT Smiti, where safety standards were among the best in the industry.
I had also worked for a Dredging company - International Seaport Dredging (a subsidiary of Dredging International, Belgium), for a brief period.
Before that, I had been working with Wallem ship management Ltd, Hong Kong, who manage almost all kinds of ships. With them I worked on Crude oil Tankers- (Panamax, Aframax, Suezmax& VLCC), Car Carriers & also a Container ship.
Initially I was with an American Company OMI Corp Pvt Ltd., who was one of the leading Tanker ship owners.
An oil tanker is a very complicated ship. As engineers on these ships, we are always busy with the maintenance and upkeep of the several machines, along with occasional unforeseen breakdowns and repairs. For us the most important aspect of our job is to enable the CARGO to be transported and discharged safely, without any trouble.
Machineries include Slow / Medium speed Diesel Engines for propulsion as well as power generation, associated machineries like air compressors, pumps, oil purifiers, alternators, motors etc.
Apart from these machines all shipboard essential machines like fresh water generating, air-conditioning and refrigeration, sewage and waste disposal systems, ballasting systems, bilge separation, tank cleaning and all pipelines associated with these.
As part of cargo discharging, Boilers – complete steam plant, burner maintenance, water treatment, feed water pumps, condensers, pump turbines and the cargo pumps constitute the discharging plant.
Boilers are water tube or smoke tube and the exhaust gas boilers. Also included in the oil tankers are the Inert gas plants, which supply inert gas to be filled in flammable vapour rich void spaces of the tanks.
3. Education & Training - CV/Resume Part 3 [Mandatory]
M .S. B College of Engineering, Latur, Maharashtra, India (1990-1994).
I had subjects like automobile engineering, CAD/CAM as elective in my final year.
Postgraduate training in Marine engineering:
Marine Engineering Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai, for 6 months (Dec1995 to June1996).
This was coupled with a shipboard training for 9 months, which I did on M/T White Sea, a 150,000 ton DWT Crude oil tanker.
I would be giving my examination for Second engineer/First Asst/Engineer’s license, shortly.
