Prepared HSE System for FPSO Conversion Project :- subcontractor auditing, shipyard HSE bid evaluation, HSE Officer selection and Training Programme development.
Albwardy Marine Engineering LLC (Dubai)
• Prepared HSE Section of bid submission for Maintenance contract at LNG Plant.
• Developed new Company HSE Management System to OHSAS 18001 format.
Bahamian Maritime Authority
Collating incident information to produce a report suitable for issue by the Flag state.
Chevron Shipping, (San Francisco)
Contracted to monitor HSE during a repair period coordinated by the Ship Manager, Northern Marine. Coordinated with Northern Marine and Shipyard HSE personnel, monitoring and adjusting workplace practice to ensure a safe place of work for all.

2002- 2006 HSE Manager, Ship Construction Far East (based at SHI Geoje Is Korea)
• Responsibility for HSE at Shipbuilding yards in the Far East. (China, Korea & Japan).
• Setting and ensuring compliance with, BP Shipping’s HSE policy in respect of ship construction yards, ship repair yards and afloat repair facilities.
• Providing assurance to the HSSE Director and Technical Director of BP Shipping that HSE was being managed in a proactive manner.
• Assisted the Project Site Manager in running the Project Site team

2001 – 2001 Safety Coach, Magnus EOR Project, BP Exploration
• Lead Safety Coach on Contract Pipelay Vessel Solitaire, ensuring that BP Group Expectations on Safety Performance were delivered for the Magnus Project. Working with the vessels HSE Team to achieve safety improvements in the working environment.
• Transferring BP Group Standards such as gHSEr, Golden Rules, Advanced Safety Auditing (ASA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to the contractor.

2000 - 2000 HSE Manager, VLCC Project, Geoje Island, Korea
• Formalised HSE input to working practices for the site supervision team within the work scope associated with construction, testing, commissioning and handover of ships. Developed Management Systems to ensure HSE risks were identified, assessed and controlled consistent with the BP Group expectations of its HSE Management System, Getting HSE Right.
• Providing assurance to the BP Group Marine Director that the shipyard were delivering improved workplace safety standards and control.

1999 – 2000 Marine Assurance Superintendent, Turkey
• Responsible for protecting BP Group image as part of a Corporate Risk Mitigation Process. Seconded to a Turkish shipping company to advise them on and assist with the development and implementation of the required procedures for compliance with the ISM Code.
• During the tenure, operational and visual improvements were achieved on the ship, these being demonstrated by reduced levels of “observations” at Company, Industry and Third Party VIQ inspections.

1992 – 1999 Safety & Loss Control Superintendent, Fleet Operations
• Reporting direct to the Manager Operations Group, responsible for promotion and co-ordination of safety activities in BP Shipping fleet.
• Directed the project to deliver a Total Loss Control philosophy to the HSE Management of the fleet. This resulted in the reporting of high levels of Near Miss and Property Damage Incidents allowing management to focus on the costs of incidents and implement necessary procedures to systematically reduce losses.
• Co-wrote OCIMF report “Results of a Survey of Lifeboat Safety” 1994

Management of Change
• Led the change within BP Shipping to a broad based Incident Reporting system that required all incidents to be recorded. This resulted in Management being able to focus on the costs of incidents, in particular Property Damage Incidents that were brought to light, resulting in significant costs savings across a depleting fleet working in a cost conscious environment.
