I am applying for the position as rig mechanic. With an extensive 15 years in the merchant navy as a 3rd/2nd marine engineer and 4 years working in the offshore industry as a mechanic i seek a position which will allow me to utilize my profesional experience to its full potential.

I would also like to develop my skills further and reach my own goals.I am hardworking ,honest and professional,able to use computers permits ,control systems.

Rig Mechanic February 2008 to Present
From February 2008 to the present i have been working for a recruitment agent based in Aberdeen as a rig mechanic and have spent the last twelve months working in the Dutch sector of the north sea.
Recruited by Workfox and Fabricom Suez, my job has involved repairs to deluge systems , gas turbines ,pumps and all running machinery in the general maintenance and everyday running of the gas installations.
Marine engineering supervisor/advisor June 2008 to August 2008
My role with PGC was to supervise and advice the company on the dismantling and decommissioning of the Merchant Vessel RIVERDANCE which became ship wrecked off the northwest coast of England UK.Fully fuelled and full of cargo I worked very closely with local government and environmental agencies as well as media to render the vessel safe. This meant the safe removal of fuel, oils, chemicals and cargo not a easy task as the vessel was on her side at 110% .The safe removal of the ships co2 and machinery including main engines and generators was my next task this involved working with naval architects to maintain the vessels integrity so cutting personnel could work safely on the vessel.


Service Technician June 2006 to February 2008
Working offshore in the oil and gas industry, my job was
to torque spools, vessels to high torque rates in a
controlled manner. This involved the use of torque
pumps, load cells and various hand tools to seal high
pressure spools and vessels on oil and gas lines. Also
to provide certification for any work carried out by my
self and other members of the team. Safety is always
high priority and working as a team also before starting
any job toolbox and risk assessments were always
carried out.

Mechanical engineer October 2005 to May 2006
I served as a mechanical engineer on the Maersk
shipping line and my duties were to perform major and
minor repairs to all the ships main and auxiliary
machinery this usually meant working on a very strict
time scale therefore safety and high a standard of
professionalism was required also good team work by
all members of the engine room team as well as good
communication by everybody. Repairs carried out could
be anything for the main engines to a simple leak.

Marine engineer March 2003 to September 2005
My job was to ensure the smooth running of a kv18
cylinder marine engine, I carried out all major and
minor repairs from fuel pumps, pistons, cylinder heads
to simple fuel injectors. The engine main aim was to test
and run new fuel types for the government fuels such as
tallow, sunflower oil and gas These new types of fuel
were to be cheap and most importantly have low or non
exhaust emissions. The engine was also linked to the
national grid and produced 9 meg of power.


Mechanical engineer December 1997 to January 2003
Working alongside the Royal Navy any where in the
world I was part of a well oiled and complex crew, and
my job as a engineer was demanding but enjoyable
with 300 people all working together the ship and her
crew were always ready for anything including going to
various war zone But the main task was to support the
Royal Navy with fuel, weapon, food etc around the
clock and anywhere in the world. As an engineer I
carried out repairs to all ships systems including main
engines, generators.
