To whom it may concern

I have built a strong international career specializing in maintaining and developing business opportunities for employers through proactive management of national and international customer sales opportunities and relationships. Having had many years within a diverse range of fields, I have extensive experience within the fuel, marine, hospitality/catering, entertainment services and automotive/engineering industries. However, my recent experience within the fuel industry, dealing with top-level decision-makers across the entire EU, means that I am particularly suited to the fuel industries.

I am fully conversant with an array of business software, internet telephony /e-business platforms and marketing techniques, and believe that my proven track record of sales growth and relationship-building would be of benefit to any employer, regardless of product speciality.

As a 'Kiwi', I also believe that I bring a can-do attitude, an outgoing disposition and a willingness to adapt cheerfully to conditions. New Zealanders are also known internationally for their straightforward, honest business dealings, and for being self-starters with exceptional initiative and drive - all of which I think I embody.

Sadly, due to current economic exigencies, my position has recently been made redundant, and so I am now seeking a challenging position with a new company; ideally one which, regardless of location, will use my experience, contacts and drive to their fullest.

Key achievements:
 Identified valuable new market sectors within Europe
 Negotiated critical new industry distributorships
 Personally negotiated a new-sector sale worth approximately 500,000EU

 Responsible for sales development in the European market. Created and maintained hundreds of domestic and international business contacts - including Shell, Total and Aggreko; right through to local Irish fuel contractors.

 Successfully initiated, responded to and followed up sales enquiries electronically, by telephone, and via personal visits.

 Kept abreast of developments within the domestic and international fuel industry and used this information to identify and analyse Transtank’s strengths and weaknesses.

 Planned, developed and implemented growth strategies, including marketing plans.

Feb 2006 – June 2008 Strategic Tanks, CHRISTCHURCH:
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER; NZ/PACIFIC
Key achievements:
 Turned a start-up operation into a thriving multi-million dollar business.
 Worked with marketing professionals to create entire suite of product and marketing materials that was subsequently adopted by international parent company.
 Was responsible for developing several complementary business concepts.


NOV 2002 - FEB 2006 Ian Franklins Boat Builders, NEW ZEALAND:
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Key achievements:
 Created and maintained the business’s first-ever computerised customer database
 Developed a full range of complementary professional services for the business, including contract writing, finance arrangement, and the creation of marketing materials (including a entirely new website concept).
 Was responsible for the sale of a number of luxury custom-made launches, including a 50-foot luxury racing yacht and a 40-foot planing launch, totalling into the millions.

Dec 2002 - July 2003 Franklins Boatbuilders, NEW ZEALAND:
BOAT BUILDER/ENGINEERING

Upon starting at Franklin’s and working as part of a team attending to the primary stages of luxury boat construction, I was rapidly seconded to the Engineering Department to assist with all aspects of this demanding discipline.

November 1995 – May 2002 Dolphin Cafe and Bar, NEW ZEALAND:
OWNER/RESTAURANT MANAGER

 Forming one half of a partnership with a talented chef, I was responsible for the daily running of this busy and successful restaurant and bar, including recruitment, marketing and financials.

Previous to my ownership of The Dolphin, I was employed as General Manager at a number of bars and restaurants; and before that, owned my own business for five years in the entertainment sector. I am happy to supply more details of this position, and others I have held previously, upon request.
