2007 – Present YOUR HOME IMPROVEMENTS
I have been director of my own contractor business for the last 3 years in partnership with one other individual. Our company has operated successfully within the construction industry on both new build and reconstruction/refurbishment sites. In running my own company I have learnt how to prospect and tender for work and also how to organise and manage the people that we employ as and when required. Time management, planning and organisation have been extremely important in making my company a success.
2005-2007 ARNOLD CLARK (VAUXHALL) SENIOR SALES EXECUTIVE
As senior sales executive for this large company I was responsible for the performance of 18 sales executives. This included individual sales performance, franchise stock management and various aspects of colleague health and wellbeing. Working in sales I was responsible for selling new, used and commercial vehicles. In the absence of the sales manager I regularly assumed this role and was responsible for all aspects of the sales department. Computer literacy was important in ordering and managing all stock and is a skill which I have maintained. I believe my strong interpersonal and communication skills were the reason that I was so successful in this industry.
1999 – 2003 ARNOLD CLARK AUTOMOBILES LTD (VOLKSWAGEN) REPORTING VEHICLE TECHNICIAN
Directly responsible for servicing and the maintenance of all VW vehicles within the dealership, also in charge of ordering parts, business-to-business relationship development and solving problems within the department. I have good customer care skills and a sound sense of judgement when working to deadlines and targets. I was also responsible for ensuring a high level of service and customer care was implemented at all times by my team. As a result of my high levels of commitment, Arnold Clark Ltd sponsored me through my Reporting Technician Qualification.
Initial apprenticeship served with Trust Motors, one of Scotland's largest Ford Dealerships. I was responsible for the servicing and repair of automobiles and acting as support to the whole technician team. I learnt to be highly self motivated and work to deadlines. I was mentored by a senior vehicle technician who helped me develop my skills in vehicle maintenance and servicing. I was also given good advice on dealing with dealerships and part suppliers.
