1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
Application for the Post of Rig Electrician
Please find enclosed my Curriculum Vitae. As a fully qualified Electrician, I am very interested in the above post. While I am aware I do not have all the formal qualifications, I have shown throughout my 4 year Apprenticeship that I am a very quick learner who is also reliable and very hard working.
Throughout my apprenticeship I have spent extensive time away from home staying in various accommodations throughout the United Kingdom. My College time was spent variously in both Leeds and Greenock. I would not be one to get fazed by the long periods away from home as it has become the norm in the past few years with both of my recent employers. I have a good work ethic and am accustomed to working long hours and have been working twelve hour days mostly for the past two years.
I have also had six months Offshore Experience onboard a Geotechnical Survey Vessel as a Junior Field Engineer. The contract was a cable route survey. I learned a lot in my short time with the company about life at sea and the job in general. There was also a complete re-modernisation of the vessel and I was fully involved in fitting the hull mounted systems and survey room equipment. They included the Swath, Multibeam, Singlebeam and Sub Bottom Profiler.
Even though my own duties whilst on the survey did not involve myself operating all of the above systems I still found it all very interesting having helped install them in dry-dock first-hand. I have listed my tasks and duties during my time with the company within my Curriculum Vitae.
At this point in my career, I am very keen indeed to widen my horizons and tackle new and interesting challenges like working on Rigs In different parts of the World. I am an excellent team player, with very good communication abilities, willing to learn new skills and would relish the opportunity to further develop these skills within a new and demanding environment.
