2002 2006 Royal Marines National/International
Based at the Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines (FPGRM) as a rifleman conducting armed security for the UKs nuclear deterrent in Faslane, Scotland. I then moved to the Joint Support Unit at Northwood HQ London where I served as a member of the Quick Reaction Force, providing tactical armed response to any threat against the facility. Throughout my career in the Royal Marines, I took part in various training exercises including mountain training in Scotland and Jungle Training in the Dominican Republic/Curacao. I also deployed with 6 Assault Squadron Royal Marines on HMS Albion, specialising as a Landing Craftsman. During this period I became qualified as a coxswain on a number of different seaborne craft, operating on exercises in and around, Holland, Spain, Portugal and Jersey.

Landing Craftsman
Experience in handling raiding craft, small landing craft and the Griffin Medium Lift Hovercraft in any conditions.
Able to establish and operate communications effectively, employing wireless and craft signal flags.
Able to locate and rectify minor faults on a range of craft.
Able to conduct a range of crewman duties on board large landing craft including rigging and various towing systems.
Employ man overboard drills and conduct passenger safety demonstrations.
Marshal vehicles on and off craft and secure for sea passage.
Able to maintain and demonstrate the use of lifejackets and survival equipment.
Experience with plotting and reading maritime charts while ashore or during passage, in conjunction with crafts electronic navigational systems.
Qualified as a Coxswain on the following craft:
RRC - Rigid Raiding craft 6.5m Dory type craft.
IRC - Inflatable Raiding Craft 4.6m inflatable craft of the Gemini or Zodiac type.
RIB - Rigid Inflatable Boat 8.75m rigid hulled, inflatable sided craft with inboard or outboard engines, with speed capabilities of between 25 60 Knots.
LCAC - Landing Craft Air Cushion 11.9m Assault hovercraft with capabilities of operating on or offshore.
Qualified as a Crewman on the following craft:
LCVP - Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel 13.1m assault landing craft, capable of independent passages of up to 80miles.
LCU - Landing Craft Utility 27.45m craft, capable of independent passages of up to 600 miles.
Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines
Member of the armed security attachment conducting operations to protect the UKs nuclear deterrent.
Trained in small team tactical room and building clearance drills.
Tasked to provide specialist security during public demonstrations and protests to compounds and bases of a sensitive nature.
Highly experienced in performing mobile support and stand off escorts to high risk convoys.
Trained and experienced in all Maritime security and anti piracy operations.
