1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
I am looking for work either as a Supervisor, rigger or mobile crane operator. I have just finished working offshore as a rigger, before that I was working in Nigeria as a Supervisor in the rigging and lifting department. I am 42 years old and have been in the industry since the late 1980’s where I was in the Royal Engineers, using these skills on a daily basis for over 13 years.
On leaving the service in March 1999, I have worked for Crane Hire Firms as a crane operator in the North East of England, but have been sent to different locations of the UK. Predominantly I have worked in the oil, gas or chemical industry with some construction work.
Recently I self sponsored myself for my own offshore safety courses and got a position working for Aker Kvaerner as a rigger where I have passed Opito rigging assessment and NVQ level 3 Moving loads.
I am a hard worker who is able to plan work and reach and maintain targets and deadlines. I have proved that I can be a good team player but can also work on my own using my own initiative. I am a confident communicator, with a good sense of humour.
If employed I feel I would be a valuable asset to your company with my knowledge and experience
2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]
I started out in the Army for the Royal Engineers where I worked in various countries including Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Germany and Poland. Whilst in the Army I was a bomb disposal engineer, a crane operator, a motor transport corporal and a rigger amongst other positions. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, helping build bridges in Bosnia for the local people.
On return from the Army I worked for Crane hire companies, Dowse Crane hire and Mammoet UK. Here I drove and operated mobile cranes from 15 tonne to 180 tonne. Mostly I worked in oil, gas and petrochemical plants but travelled to all four corners of the UK. I then went to Nigeria as a crane operator, but ended up teaching and supervising the local Nigerians to operate the cranes. Finally I have been offshore in the North Sea as a rigger, working two weeks on, two weeks off.
3. Education & Training - CV/Resume Part 3 [Mandatory]
I went to Heaton Comprehensive school where I obtained CSE's in Mathematics, English, Physics, Geography and Cookery. I then went to Newcastle college where I gained a City and Guilds in catering and management and RSA in Mathematics.
Whilst in the Army I gained City and Guilds in Construction Plant Operating and Crane operators course as well as gaining my driving classes 1, 2 and 3. At Mammoet UK I passed my NVQ L2 in specialist plant and machinery operators course, plant operators safety awareness course and construction plant competence scheme. I then self sponsered myself to get the Pan European Offshore course in both safety and survival. I also self sponsered myself to gain NSL rigging and lifting course L2. Whilst at Aker Kvaerner I have passed NVQ L3 in moving loads, ISSOW L2, OPITO rigging assessment and Loler Planning course.
4. Computer Skills - CV/Resume Part 4 [Mandatory]
I have never taken any computer courses but feel I am very confident at using a computer, knowing my way round the keyboard and using all software such as word, excel and e-mail. I am also able to create lift plans and drawings on my computer.
5. Other Skills - CV/Resume Part 5 [Optional]
My other skills are varied as I have been a bomb disposal engineer and built bridges whilst in the Army. I walked the Pennine Way at the age of 15. I have 21 years of knowledge and experience in the rigging and crane industry.
I am hard working, reliable, conscientious and very much a good team player, but am very capable off working on my own initiative when required.
