Working on the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP, a joint venture between Shell, Chevron & Marathon) Expansion 1 requiring fully integrated expansion of 100,000 bpd of oil sands mining & upgrading facilities. I am working on the enhanced Shell Froth Treatment area & my responsibilities include:
- System development of expansion froth area.
- P&IDs, data sheets, equipment & hydraulic calculations.
I am also working on the Nexen Long Lake SAGD project to complete the punch list items after commissioning.

(VECO was bought out by CH2MHILL during late 2007).
As Manager Process Engineering & HSE Departments employing 29 engineers, I was responsible for all the ongoing projects, which included the following:
- Vankor Pipeline Project, a new Greenfield project comprising of a 542 km long pipeline having 500,000bpd capacity and being built to Siberian Arctic specifications of Russia.
- Several projects related to gas plants, compression units, flare systems, gas oil separation units for British Petroleum, ConocoPhilips, Gulf Resources Canada, etc.
- Several pipeline projects for Inter Pipeline Fund (IPF) requiring hydraulic studies, surge analysis & detailed design.
- Process support to Puguang sour gas gathering, treatment, compression & transmission project for SINOPEC, China.
- Process support to VECO Abu Dhabi on dense & multi phase sub-sea pipelines for GASCO.
- A dense phase CO2 pipeline network for Kinder Morgan, requiring compressors, aggregate hub & injection network.

As Contractor worked as Overall Process Lead on all Petro-Canada Projects managing several projects related to the Refinery Conversion Program on the Edmonton Refinery. Additionally, I was responsible as Lead Engineer for the Petro-Canada & Kinder Morgan Tank Farm Upgrade Project & Cold Lake Blend tie-in. The project comprises of providing new tanks, metering facilities & tie-in connections for heavy bituminous crude oil blends.

As Contractor in the Process Engineering Department worked on the Hibernia Topside Upgrade and Terra Nova Projects which comprised of new gas & water injection facilities to help support & maintain production on the platform. Also was the Lead Process Engineer on the new chemical injection facility, comprising of Asphaltene Inhibitor, Demulsifier, Anti-Foam, Scale Inhibitor, Acid Wash and Water Clarifier. The upgrade projects were cancelled by Exxon Mobil due to altercation with the provincial government and this section of KBR was sold during June' 06 to become Production Services Network (PSN).

Repsol Oil Operations (ROO) in partnership with NOC of Libya is aggressively implementing its expansion programs. As Senior Process Specialist, I was responsible for providing process engineering support to the NC-186 & NC-115 concession areas centralized production facilities, 5 satellite fields & a 30”, 742km long pipeline. As Section Head was responsible for 4 process engineers & ongoing projects as follows:
- Expand production from current around 265,000bopd to 350,000bopd requiring addition of new Fields & upgrading of existing facilities at Main GOSP Stations.
- Revamping of existing flare systems at NC-186 & NC-115 to conform to ISO-14001 standards.
- Conceptual design of a new Gas Compression unit to compress & dehydrate associated gases from NC-186/115 areas for usage as fuel in new Turbines and increase electrical power generation for Repsol Oil Operations (ROO).
- Designed a bypass arrangement for GOSP-H increasing revenues by around US$30million annually.
- Providing complete day to day support to operations on trouble-shooting and de-bottlenecking.

Zakum Development Company (ZADCO) is a joint venture between ADNOC of Abu Dhabi & JODCO of Japan, responsible for producing 535,000bopd and 130mmscfd of gas from offshore facilities. My responsibility included assistance in preparation of 5 year business plan, long-term development strategy for sustaining target productions & preparation of techno-economic feasibilities for major conceptual stage projects. I also worked on the Thamama West expansion to increase production from 535,000 to 600,000 bopd.

As Senior Process Specialist worked in Technical Services Department of GNPOC (Joint Consortium of Malaysian PETRONAS, Chinese CNPC & Sudanese SUDAPET), I worked on the worlds longest high wax crude oil pipeline running along 1506kms. Facilities included 11 oil and gas producing fields, Central Processing Facilities, Pipeline with 6 booster stations and Marine Terminal facilities. My responsibilities included:
- Capacity expansion from initial 215,000bopd to 320,000bopd by using DRA and adding new pumping stations.
- Simulation and scoping studies for the expansion including pipeline and pumping stations.
- Introduced Drag Reducing Agent in the pipeline resulting in capacity increase by around 35,000bopd and increasing the revenues by over US$600million annually.
- Conceptual Design of new fields Bamboo and Thar-Jhatt.
- Several de-bottlenecking projects related to capacity expansion of production facilities, pipeline, pumping stations and marine terminal loading station.

As Contractor I worked on the Shell Sakhalin gas plant front-end conceptual development consisting of process selection based on comparative analysis of turbo-expander, JT valve, mechanical refrigeration, desiccant absorption, etc.

As Principal Engineer in the Process Department, I worked on the 1.5 BSCFD Berri Gas Plant Ethane and NGL Recovery Project for Saudi ARAMCO. Main responsibilities included:
- Front End Design of the Refrigeration Unit based on 4x27000 hp centrifugal compressors, and complete Utilities for a 1.5 BSCFD Gas Plant, using Turbo-expanders, for Saudi Aramco. This also includes integration of new facilities with the existing plant facilities.
- System sizing, data sheets and P&ID’s for a 950 MMSCFD Gas Plant for Pan-Canadian at Empress.
- Responsible for process simulations and modifications for Used Oil Cracking Refinery for Newalta.
- Simulation scoping study for LPG Recovery for Hurricane Kumkol Gas Plant, Kazakhstan.

As Senior Engineer in the Central Engineering Department, was responsible for providing design and implementation of medium and large sized projects to both offshore and onshore facilities. Later on, was transferred to Projects Department as Lead Process Engineer handling a major upgrade Project. Worked on the following main projects:
- Carried out Conceptual and Front End Engineering design for a new Artificial Gas-lift system for the entire Dukhan Field spread in an area of 80 x 8kms, comprising high pressure Centrifugal Compressors, Dehydration Units, Distribution Network. The Project Cost was over US$500 Million.
- As part of the Project Team based in UK with an International Consultant, carried out conceptual design, optimisation, front end and partial detailed design of the Dukhan Field Upgrades Project. It comprised of 3 main and 7 remote oil and gas production stations, involving 3-phase multi-stage separation, Centrifugal Compressors, Dehydration Units, Crude Oil Pumps, Produced Water Treatment, Gas and Oil Pipelines, advanced Instrumentation and Distributed Control Systems.
- Conceptual and Front End Engineering Design for a sour gas collection and recycle system based on Tank Vapour Blower trains at two stations.
- Safety Upgrades of sour gas letdown stations using High Integrity Protection System (HIPS).
- Prepared a Conceptual Design for a cryogenic based Nitrogen Gas Generation Plant.

Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) jointly owned by Royal Dutch Shell and Government of Brunei operates over 200 offshore structures, 20 gathering stations, an oil refinery, a natural gas compression plant and an LNG plant. BSP employs over 3000 personnel and has the in-house capability to carryout all engineering phases, from conceptual to detailed engineering. It has its own fabrication facility to offshore platforms complete with equipment installation capability. I joined the Central Engineering Department in the Process / Facilities Section and was later also supporting the Front End Department. In the capacity of Engineering Design Co-ordinator was responsible to supervise Contractors and co-ordinate various discipline inputs. Major projects handled are:
- Modular Safety Upgrades of an Offshore Platform, resulting in savings of US$1.0 million.
- Two new Offshore Production Platforms for the Champion West Field.
- Gas Conditioning Unit based on Turbo-Expander and Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers.
- New Glycol Dehydration Unit based on electrically heated Glycol Regenerator.
- Dynamic Simulation and upgrade works for fuel gas supply system for the entire State of Brunei, including Power Stations, industrial and domestic users.
- Multiphase pipeline network, linking offshore platforms to onshore gas liquefaction plants.
- Upgrade of Flare System catering for Refinery, Natural Gas Compression Unit and Tanks.
- Upgrade of a utility platform involving Fire Water, Seawater, Potable water systems.
- Several upgrades work involving separators, pumps, exchangers, relief/vent systems, etc.
- Several well tie-ins for gas, oil, water and lift gas injection systems.

Enar Petrotech Services Ltd. (EPSL) is an Oil and Gas Consultant capable of providing complete range of technical expertise from conceptual to EPC. Additionally, it had call-on contracts with two major oil refineries of Pakistan and was providing expansion, trouble-shooting and de-bottlenecking services to them. It also had the capability of carrying out expansion studies, complete technical feasibility studies, procurement services, construction supervision, commissioning and guarantee tests. I joined the Technical Services Department and served in various capacities for instance, Process Engineer, Process Advisor, Process In-charge, Lead Engineer. Major Projects handled are:
- As Lead Process Engineer was responsible for the design and implementation of a Sulphur Recovery Unit for a 50 MMSCFD gas processing complex for OGDC.
- Process design of 250 km and 40 km dual flow and hot furnace pipelines respectively, with heating, storage and pumping facilities for PSO in Bechtel Offices, UK.
- As Lead Engineer for complete grass-roots utilities for a 50,000 BPSD Hydro-cracker for PERAC.
- As government appointed official mediator, carried out performance tests and trouble-shooting studies for a 75 MMSCFD LPG recovery plant at Meyal for POL.
- As Process In-charge, participated in the design of a 300 MTPD Single Super Phosphate Fertiliser Plant for HPFL, together with Heurtey Industries of France.
- Process Design of a Benzene Toluene Xylene Plant for the National Refinery.
- Several de-bottlenecking projects involving, Vacuum Distillation Tower, LPG Loading Arms, API Separators, Coal Tar Distillation Unit, Oil de-waxing, etc.

FFCL is a joint venture between Haldor Topsoe of Holland, Snamprogetti of Italy & Fauji Foundation of Pakistan. It operates grass-roots 1725 MTPD Urea-Ammonia Complex at Machhi Goth. I joined the Technical Services Department as Process Engineer at the projects conception phase & took part in all the successive stages of the project till commissioning & guarantee tests. Later on was promoted to Process Section Head. Major responsibilities included:
 As part of the Project Team, participated in the conceptual & detailed design at the Contractor’s (Snamprogetti) offices for a 1725 MTPD Ammonia-Urea Complex. Later on was involved in Construction Supervision, Commissioning, start-up & guarantee tests.
 6 months of Operational Training in an ANIC SpA Fertilizer Complex, Manfredonia, Italy.
 Several plant modifications involving Primary Furnace, Shift Exchangers, Urea Evaporators, Waste Water Treatment Facility & a Fire Fighting Training Ground.
 Prepared a Feasibility Study on a 1000 MTPD Di-Ammonium Phosphate Fertilizer Plant.

ECPL, operated a 550 MTPD Ammonia-Urea Fertilizer Complex. I joined the Technical Services Department as Process Trainee Engineer and successively served as Contact Process Engineer for Ammonia & Urea units. Main responsibilities and projects handled were as follows:
 Involved in the capacity upgrade project from 550 to 750 MTPD.
 Performance monitoring trouble shooting of Ammonia & Urea units & individual equipment including Reformers, Ammonia & Urea Reactors, Shift Converters, Methanator, CO2 Absorption & Removal System, Ammonia & CO2 Compressors, Urea Evaporators, Prill Towers, Refrigeration Unit, Pumps, etc.
 Capacity upgrades to the Primary Furnace & evaluating capacity bottlenecks in the downstream equipment.
 Assisted in the Turn-Around planning & implementation involving Catalyst changeover, chemical cleaning of exchangers, vessels, modifications, etc.
 Several design modifications aimed at productivity improvements, optimization of process & operational variables, product quality improvement, pollution control.
