Completed scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the main propulsion plant aboard a 270 foot boat, conducted administrative work such as conducting and supervising a full inventory and ordering parts, and kept up to date the material safety data sheets on all the chemical agents used in that division. Performed maintenance procedures and conducted a full Navy lead examination of both turbo charged Alco V 18 diesel engines and twin Caterpillar V 12 diesel generators during which we used micrometers, telescopic gauges, and dial indicator gauges. Operated and serviced the ships air compressor, oil purifiers, and fuel purifier. Executed the duties of damage control petty officer by examining fire extinguishers onboard, checking water tight hatches for integrity, and prepared full reports of our findings for the damage control division.
