At the beginning of October 2008 I re-registered with Driver Hire Recruitment agency and have been working regularly with Falkirk Council at their Roughmute and Kinneil Kerse recycling centres advising and assisting local residents on site.
April 2008 – October 2008
Since leaving Avondale I have been busy developing my properties in Bulgaria.
I have recently successfully completed my Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training(BOSIET) and have also passed the required UKOOA medical examination for offshore work at Falck-Nutec,Dyce.
April 2007 - April 2008 Avondale Environmental Ltd
I was employed by Avondale Environmental Ltd as Landfill Site Labourer.My main tasks while working with Avondale Environmental were litter picking and traffic control, ensuring that certain types of waste were directed to there specified areas on site.As Avondale Environmental use Methane Gas produced and collected from the waste sent to landfill to power electricity generators on site which in turn is distributed to the national grid I was trained in Electro-Fusion and often assisted with on site plastic pipe welding and laying.I also gained experience driving the site tractor and 20 tonne dump truck.
October 2003 - April 2007 Driver Hire (Grangemouth)
I was registered with Driver Hire(Grangemouth) an employment agency who kept me busy working with Stirling Council as a Refuse Collection Vehicle Loader and 7.5 tonne van driver for almost 2 years and then Falkirk Council as a Refuse Collection Vehicle Loader for around 7 months.In January 2007 I was placed at Avondale Landfill site as a labourer and in April 2007 was offered full time employment with Avondale Environmental Ltd.
May 2002 - October 2003 Weston Transport
I was employed by Weston Transport as a LGV 2 driver.
My friend Graham Sherry, Manager of Weston Transport offered to fund my Training and test for LGV2 and HIAB (CITB) if I worked for a minimum of 1 year with Weston Transport.I gladly accepted this offer and passed LGV2 test on the 24th of May 2002,after some driving experience I was put forward for HIAB training and gained CITB certification on the 18th of December 2002. I continued to work with Weston transport until October 2003 as I felt I preferred more manual types of work and left.
May 2001- April 2002 Menzies Distribution (Denny)
I was employed as a Van Delivery Driver by Menzies Distribution (Denny) delivering newspapers and magazines to 72 shops in and around Stirling.Due to Menzies Distribution relocating to Newbridge I was made redundant in April 2002.
February 2001 - May 2001 Land and Water Group Ltd
I was employed by Land and Water Group Ltd as a Canal Tug Skipper working on several old and new tugs involved with the restoration and re-opening of both The Union Canal and Forth and Clyde Canal. I was part of a dredging team working from Wester Hailes in Edinburgh on The Union Canal through to Clydebank on the Forth and Clyde Canal. Due to the nature of this work it was only a temporary contract and ended for me in May 2001.
July 1997 - February 2001 Inspection Ecosse Ltd
I was employed by Inspection Ecosse Ltd, through IEL I attended Kirkcaldy college and gained ASNT level 2 (American Society for Non-Destructive Testing) qualifications in Magnetic Particle Inspection,Dye Penetrant Inspection and Ultrasonic Testing, I was also often involved in X-Ray and Gamma Ray radiography.
As a Non-Destructive Test Technician I gained experience in testing and inspection of British Gas pipeline welding,BP pipeline, storage vessel welding and steel plate thickness inspection,as part of a team I have taken part in several ships hull inspections mainly at Forth Estuary Engineering at Leith and Midland Shipbuilders,Grangemouth.
I have also been involved with Radiographic testing in Hunterston B Nuclear Power Station.
After an extended period of 12 hour nightshifts I left IEL.
October 1988 - May 1997 SDM Group Ltd
I was employed by SDM Group Ltd initially as a Petrol Station attendant,after showing a keen interest in car sales I was offered a position as Trainee Sales Executive,I accepted the offer and became part of the new and used car sales team. I attended several sales related courses through my employment with SDM but eventually decided that I wanted a change of career.
