CV/Resume Details
1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

I have been employed in the Marine Industry for over 40 years, during which time I've stood by the design (various components), construction, operation, and management of many Vessels.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

Arctic - Marine Supervisor/Barge Engineer(Shell/Exxon/Frontier- Spring 2008)
I was again hired to assist in activating the CDU Kulluk from a laid-up and frozen-in condition off Herschel Island (NWT, Arctic), and familiarize some of the senior American personnel who represented the new owner.

Delivery Master “Sterling Carrier”(July - late Nov. '07)
This purportedly ‘quick run to Panama’ turned into an all consuming bureaucratic entanglement. The Vessel was sold 3–times while enroute from Campbell River (Canada) to Acapulco to Panama to Peru to Chile, with a complete Norwegian crew change-out in Panama. The Vessel was re-classed back into DNV, and consequently re-inspected in Canada, Acapulco as well as Panama. Some 62 days later I handed the Vessel over to it’s newest owners, and remained in Chile for a few more days to offer any assistance I could with reflagging and familiarisation.

Marine Supervisor "CDU Kulluk” (June — late Nov. '06)
An Icebreaking Drilling Unit that I had helped lay-up some 13-years earlier in McKinley Bay (W/Arctic) was purchased by Shell-Exxon (Houston), and they in turn hired me to assist in bringing the vessel back into Class, as well as back into the 21" century. My duties included liaison with DNV surveyors for a host of deck/hull inspections, as well as researching/proposing new Radar, Alarm console, Communications and many other newer/updated on board systems. A new external Thruster system was also being installed.

Senior Master "Harbourlynx" (Oct 3 to Feb. '06 {2-yrs 5-mos})
I joined this company from it's origin, and stayed on until it's final financial demise. My initial duties involved the latter stages of Crew training, then onto Transport Canada High-Speed Craft Crew Certification, Vessel & Equipment Certification, Crew Scheduling, and finally Operations as Senior Master. I was, and am to this day, very much interested in the establishment on a High Speed Ferry system between Nanaimo and Vancouver. The Vessel was a Kvearner Fjellstrand — 40M Flying Cat, capable of carrying 304 passengers at 32 knots, with a crew of 7, working a day for day.

Master "Sterling Carrier” (approx. 2-yrs)
I took this job as a temporary fill-in for the Company Owner, who also happened to be an old friend. This "temporary" relief position seemed to morph into an unsought-after, "new career". I became Master for Fit-out, Certification & Sea Trials, Delivery (from Gaspe' Quebec to Campbell River B.C.), and initial Operations of the largest Live-Haul Vessel built in North America. I didn't agree with the business of Fish Farms, but enjoyed the challenges of the Marine aspects of it.

Stability Technician- "Glomar Grand Banks" 34,000Dwt Semisubmersible(14 mos.)
I initially joined this Vessel in January of 2001, in Marystown Nfld, where she was just completing a refit for some drilling contracts in Eastern Canada. After completing the necessary "Basic Survival Training", "HUET", "Safe Crane Ops", and "Work Safe" courses, as well as familiarization of an unusual Lifeboat Disembarkation system, the Ballast Control Room, Emergency Ballast Control Operations, Mooring Winch Operations, and Vessel Stability Programs, we proceeded to drill a couple of wells. After these wells were completed, we proceeded undertow of the "Smit Rotterdam" for Cromarty Firth / Invergordon / Scotland for another quick refit and on-hire survey, including some ballast tank descaling/maintenance. I was then obligated to complete a series of British compulsory Offshore courses, very similar to the ones I had just completed in Newfoundland. These courses included Basic Survival Training, HUET, Helideck Operations, Helideck Landing Officer Certification, Crane Ops, as well as Lifting & Slinging courses to name a few. During this same period we were also trained in High Pressure / High Temperature well preparedness and precautions for Armada Hess in the North Sea. The wells were completed successfully, and without incident.

Chief Officer, SeaSpan
I was hired on as Mate for Train Ferries out of the Fraser River to Vancouver Island, and subsequently transferred to Chip, Rail, and Fuel Barge Tugs for additional Company experience. After a down-turn in the coastal Marine Industry, my position was becoming tenuous, and I went Offshore again.

Chief Officer - Coast Guard Patrol Vessel "Tanu"
I was recommended for this position by the Senior Master, who turned out to be an old acquaintance from my East Coast Supply Boat days. We were involved in the initial, as well as subsequent, interceptions and arrests of illegal Chinese Migrant vessels in the late summer of '99. Other duties included some coastal towing, regular Patrols, and maintenance of Nay-Aids along the B.C. coast.

2nd Captain- "Kigoria"Class-4 Icebreaker AHSV (approx. 4-5 mos.)
I was recommended for this position by the previous Superintendent of Canmar. I was previously very much involved with this ship in the Canadian Arctic, she was 16,800 bhp and 3898grt. My duties were those of a 2" Captain, on 6 and 6 watches, to relieve the ITC Dutch Captain during Fiber Optic Cable laying and burial operations in the Gulf of Alaska and environs to a depth of up to 1500 meters. My familiarity with the Ship, and her characteristics, proved to be very beneficial to the new Operators.
Chief officer /Safety Manager - Drillship ex: Canmar Explorer 111 (approx. 2 yrs.) I joined this Drillship (16,519 dwt) in Singapore, where I had arrived on the completion of my previous project. I was reasonably familiar with the ship and most of her senior crew from the Arctic. My C/O's position soon broadened to include ISM Safety Code implementation for Northern Offshore (Co.) and the Australian Government for a Bass Strait Drilling Project.

Superintendent-"Ocean Wrestler”– Amsbach Marine Singapore (Fall '95 to Spring '96)
I was recommended for this position to represent the Malaysian Purchaser of the Deep Sea Tug "Ocean Wrestler" (5280 bhp) and two (10,000gt) Covered ex-Paper Barges. My role was to supervise and co-ordinate re-Classing (B.V. & Lloyds), design and construct a single drum tow arrangement and refueling system, repair/refurbish various components (ie 2-MEs, gearboxes, shaft bearings, 1- generator, install F/VV maker etc.), hire and train a Delivery crew, monitor/report passage to Singapore for subsequent hand over to the new owner.

Captain/Sales Representative "Maersk Ranger" China Northern Offshore Oil Co. - Maersk (A.P. Moller) - Orchando Co.(Broker) (2 – 3 mos. in Singapore)
I was recommended for this position by the ex- Superintendent of Arctic Transportation Limited (J. Matson) to represent the Chinese in the purchase and hand over of the "Maersk Ranger" (13,000 bhp AHSV) from Maersk. This project involved continuous interaction with a myriad of Chinese Officials and the Maersk. Representative (Finn Carstensen) in Singapore. I was also required to inspect and translate all of the ship's documents, as well as confirmation and inventory of all the Vessel's equipment, stores, and spares. The vessel also required dry-docking for replacement of a main shaft coupling, Class inspection, Trials, and eventual hand over to the Chinese Purchasers (C.N.O.O.C.)

3. Education & Training - CV/Resume Part 3 [Mandatory]

Canadian Master Home-Trade(ON-1), 1st Mate Foreign(1981), Liberian C/O, Panamanian Stability Technician/OIM & original Master H.T. (1973) at PMTI. Dredging & Safety Management courses via Canmar in Calgary(1980 & 1997). ISM & Safety Code implementation in conjunction with Quest Consulting Group for an Australian Governmental approval for exploratory Drilling in the Bass Strait. Proficient with most computer programs.

4. Computer Skills - CV/Resume Part 4 [Mandatory]
I am familiar and fluent with most Computer, Navigation, Stability, and Monitoring Programs and Systems.
5. Other Skills - CV/Resume Part 5 [Optional]
High-Speed Craft Certification
6. Additional Information - CV/Resume Part 6 [Optional]
The preceding has been only a very brief description of my Positions and Experiences within the Marine Industry in the near recent past.
