I’m currently working as Production / Maintenance Manager as well as Maintenance Planner for SA Tyre Recyclers in Cape Town. MAINTENANCE FITTER & TURNER / MAINTENANCE FOREMAN –
GEC ALSTHOM

Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance and breakdowns of all equipment: repair, upgrading and
redesigning of the complete spectrum of high and low voltage AC, DC and
Locomotive Traction Motors to original specifications and performance at
affordable costs. Stripping, cleaning, rebuilding, rewinding, site
installation and testing. Apart from the standard mechanical and
electrical repairs, we implemented modifications such as shaft and frame
modifications, change of motor speeds (number of poles), change of
voltage, increase of motor output (KW) and cooler improvements. Overhaul
various D.C. and traction machines in the industry. Worked on equipment
such as Hydraulic Diecast Presses,
Pneumatic systems, CNC lathes, various machining equipment, compressors,
winding machines, etc.

Co-ordination of staff, recruiting and implementing training plans for new
staff.

Conducting training and instruction of all new employees and
subcontractors through company standard and induction polices

Responsibilities - To lead & manage the Fixed Plant Maintenance sections
of the Maintenance Department with the aim of maintaining and improving

Maintenance Planner – INDIAN OCEAN FERTILIZER
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure that the Company’s plant and equipment are provided with an
effective maintenance control system by overseeing planning, scheduling
and organizing maintenance procedures for assigned area(s).

Responsible for assisting with the development of reliability based
maintenance strategy, based on preventive and predictive maintenance,
budget controls, variance reports.

Troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of mechanical and electrical
systems.

Equipment and repair parts data entry and management.

Planning and coordinating maintenance jobs and projects.

Coordinate projects that are carried out by contractors. Reports showing
costs are issued to assist in budgetary control.

Liaising with the Warehouse and purchasing personnel, expedites spare
parts, stock items or direct purchases. Stores Authorization Forms (SAFs)
are raised giving accurate components details such as supplier, model
number, serial number, stock level held, storage criteria, etc. Obsolete
components are evaluated and proposed replacements for said components to
area managers for approval.

Carries out technical appraisals prior to the purchase of equipment,
ensuring all technical specification meet with company operating
requirements.

Participates in plant safety, health and environmental programs.

Work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative,
predictive and routine maintenance tasks and report directly to Plant
Engineer.

MAINTENANCE FITTER & TURNER – INDIAN OCEAN FERTELIZER

Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance and breakdowns of all plant equipment & machinery, various
pumps such as Centrifugal, Diaphragm & gear pumps. Work on equipment such
