RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Mechanical Engineering: Completed Royal Navy Engineering Technician course during initial training and have worked for the past several years onboard both Royal Navy Destroyers and Aircraft Carriers in a variety of mechanical engineer roles. This has included propulsion and generation, gas turbine maintenance, air conditioning and general mechanical engineering.

Fire Fighting: Secondary duties in the Royal Navy have involved being part of the ship’s emergency response team to assist with all fire fighting and damage control incidents. For this duty I have had to be thoroughly trained in both fire fighting and damage control techniques. This training has stood me in good stead for both real incidents and any continuation training that has taken place on board. On occasion I have been placed in charge of fire fighting teams. This has tested my both my leadership and management skills to the full.

Team Work: Through both my primary and secondary duties in the Royal Navy, I have always had to be part of a team. Whether through planned engineering maintenance, mechanical breakdowns or fire fighting, I have had to exercise my initiative and adapt to the environment in order to complete the task successfully. This has given me an excellent appreciation of team work and has built considerably on my interpersonal communication skills.
