2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]
1997 – 1999 J.H. Horn plumbers Glasgow
I served the first two years of my apprenticeship with J.H. Horn plumbers in the west end of Glasgow. I was trained to a very high standard in basic plumbing knowledge which involved hot and cold water systems, drainage and central heating. I was also trained in dealing with the company`s customers as most of the jobs were in private dwellings.
Half way through my apprenticeship i changed company due to my ambition to work in the construction industry .Meadowburn Mechanical Services were a new company at the time and had major projects for me to learn all aspects of construction site work. During my time there i finished my level 3 plumbing certificate and ACS gas training .I stayed with the company after my apprenticeship and reached the level of advanced plumber.
I was made redundant from Gallacher & Greer due to the company losing several contracts. I had been working on price work and also on building sites. I have been given control of my own projects and worked on Source heating. Ground source heat pumps use a buried ground loop which transfers heat from the ground into a building to provide space heating and, in some cases, to pre-heat domestic hot water. I was looking for new job before my redundancy as the company had no prospect of higher positions. I am looking to progress in my trade and move on to bigger projects.
I am currently working through an agency on a commercial building in the mechanical engineering side of my trade which involves working from drawings on my own initiative.
