I am interested in the above position as I have experience of managing a camp of plus/minus 240 personnel from various cultures.
have 16 months experience as a Camp Manager with PAE Government Services Inc on their AMIS Project in Darfur, Sudan. I was responsible for the overall management of the camp which included all the administrative work e.g. keeping of petty cash, fuel and time sheet records as well as supervision over the local and third country national staff. The camp that I managed consisted of plus/minus 240 personnel of the African Union Peace Keeping Forces and came from various cultures.
All of our supplies, spares and food had to be flown in as the camps were located some distance from our supply camp. This needed very careful planning to enable me to have at least a week worth of food and supplies in case there was no flights due to various reasons.

Positions: Supply Chief on their AMIS (African Mission in Sudan) project. The job title was later changed to Camp Services/Administrative Chief in January 2006. Stood in as Acting Detachment (Camp) Manager on various occasions and was given own camp in September 2006 as Acting Detachment Manager. Was promoted to Detachment Manager in December 2006 running a camp of plus/minus 240 African Union Peace Keeping Forces and 4 Third Country Nationals which was culturally diverse.
Supervision
Was responsible for the hygiene of the camp and kitchen as well as ensuring that food was prepared, handled and stored in the prescribed way.
Seeing that sufficient food was ordered for the camp to give a week emergency stock.
Seeing that food was rotated on first in, first out basis.
Ensuring that sanitation standards were maintained i.e. burning of rubbish on a daily basis and pumping out of grey water.
Supervised emergency evacuation and security drills for local and third country nationals with the assistance of the African Union Supervision over camp cleaning staff of 19 and 4 third country nationals.

Planning and setting of work priorities and seeing that these deadlines were met.

Location and mapping of alternative evacuation pickup points for the pick up of third country nationals in an emergency.
Trained staff in the use of emergency equipment e.g. basic fist aid and survival..
Prepared and kept financial and fuel records.
Keeping of time sheets.
Assisted with monthly make of pay for local national staff.
Closing and balancing of financial and fuel records on a weekly and monthly basis.
Sending of weekly situation reports to our central Operations Office.
Authorized payment to local suppliers within my authorized limit.
Saw that third country nationals handed in reports on time.
Oversaw that camp rules and regulations were maintained.
Iimposed water restrictions and kept a daily usage record of water consumption within the camp.
Ordered spares, supplies and fuel as required and followed up on these.
Dealt with human relations issues of local national and third country national staff, including disciplinary action and hearings.

Oversaw that ablutions, kitchen, mess halls, cold and dry storage areas were kept clean and free of rodents.
