1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

I submitting my resume to see if it may be of interest to your company. I spent 20 years in the Navy as a Machinist Mate where I experienced everything from power generation to preventive maintenance. I have experience with maintenance and operation of steam turbines, pumps, valves, small boats, diesel engines, pipe-fitting, pneumatics, hydraulics, steam generation, shipboard, commercial construction, and quality control. I have planned for, and/or overhauled boilers, steam turbines, generators, switchboards, pumps, valves, condensors, water distilling plants. I have welded, machined parts, and lately, constructed and wired my personal commercial buildings.

As my most senior position on board the USS Seattle (AOE-3) I served as the (MPA) Main Propulsion Assistant to the Chief Engineer. I have lead and managed a work force of up to 200 personnel. As an Enlisted sailor, and Officer I have held a variety of positions in the Navy that has made me well qualified for the Millwright/Industrial Mechanic positions.

Since my retirement from the US Navy in 2001 I have helped develop my wife’s dental offices into a profitable venture, and constructed two commercial buildings. I feel that I am more than qualifed for the Mechanical Supervisor position. I am currently employed as a Millwright/Industrial Mechanic for IMAC Corp of Mount Vernon, WA.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]


Over twenty years of military experience in Steam Turbine, Boiler, Electrical Switchboard, and Diesel Operation involving maintenance, management, repair, precision calibration, operational testing of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. . Highly motivated self-starter with aptitude for troubleshooting and solving system problems. Proficient in the use of office software including Microsoft Windows Server 2003, XP, Excel, Word, Publisher, and Frontpage 2000.

2008-present: IMAC in Mount Vernon, WA.
Employed as a Millwright/Industrial Mechanic. Preventive maintenance and repair of pumps, hydraulics, valves, boilers, conveyors, elevators, and welding.

2005-2009: Cajun Bar and Grill in Concrete, WA
Owner/Operator: owned and operated a full service restaurant with a staff of 11.
Skilled in sales and marketing.

2001-2005: Gator Dental Equipment
Owner/Operator: owned and operated, a dental equipment repair facility. Serviced over 30 local dental offices, maintaining pumps, vacuum system, hydraulic chairs, x-ray units, xray processors, dental drills, and air compressors.

1999-2001: Facility Manager, USN – Commissioned Officer Achieved the Rank of LT. Served as the Facility Officer to Naval Ocean Processing Facility, Whidbey Island, WA. Accountable for the safe operation and maintence of UPS, emergency generators, and facilities of a 25,000 sq ft building as well as two remote off-site facilities located in Pacific Beach, WA and Coos Bay, OR. Obtained US Navy SECRET clearance

1996-1999: Main Propulsion Assistant, USN – Commissioned Officer - achieved rank of LTJG, served as the Assistant to the Chief Engineer USS SEATTLE (AOE-3), directing and leading up to 200 personnel in the daily operations of Steam Plant operation and repair, served as repair planning and coordinator liaison with Port Engineer and contract personnel with shipboard repairs. Obtained US Navy SECRET Clearance.

- Coordinated and Directed shipforce personnel in the repair of a stuck 32 inch check valve that had crippled the main engine while at sea, in less that 10 hrs, ensuring the SEATTLE did not miss a single commitment while on six month deployment to the Arabian Gulf.
- Directed the training of two watch teams (100 % pass on drills, engineering certified for safe operations), and worked with ship-intergrated training teams to excute more realistic drills.
-Coordinated and Directed repairs to boilers and main engines to allowing SEATTLE to deliver 47 underway replenishments at sea without missing a single commitment over a thirty day period.
-Qualified Officer of the Deck Underway - responsible for the safe navigation and operation of the USS SEATTLE while underway. Held additional qualification as Engineering Officer of the Watch, responsible for the safe operation of the Engineering Propulsion plant (the only commisioned officer onboard the Seattle at that time with both qualifications).

1994-1996: Machinist Mate Chief Petty Officer, USN - Assigned to the USS BUTTE (AE-27) Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of three 600psi steam boiler along with the operation of Propulsion turbines, Ships Service Turbine Generators, switchboards and all associated auxiliary machinery.

-Formulated and implemenited plan of action for ships force on numerious steam propulsion systems that was deleted from shipyard repair package due to budget constraints such as steam driven auxiliary pumps main steam valves, and water-distilling plant. Cited by Metro Machine Corp, Norfolk, VA as the most extensive work package completed by ships force personnel in the shipyard history.
- Corrected long-standing deficiency on steam turbine generator previously attempted by shipyard on lube oil pump.
-Planned and excuted timely repair to ship’s equipment preventing any down-time during 6 month deployment.
- Seasoned leader, with proven ability to obtain the most from the department personell
- Quick-acting and sound judgement during critical operations.
- Commisioned as a Limited Duty Officer.

1989-1994: Machinist Mate Chief Petty Officer, USN - Assigned to the USS WAINWRIGHT (CG-28) Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of propulsion turbines, ship’s service turbine generators, switchboards and all associated auxiliary machinery. Held additional responsiblities as the Repair Officer for the ship’s repair shop in the repairs of shipboard equipment throughout the ship.

-Conducted depot level repairs to 4 main propulsion boilers and auxiliary equipment while deployed in support of national objectives.
-Developed maintenance program for WAINWRIGHT’s main engineering spaces, reducing equipment down-time and increasing operational readiness.
-Directly repsonsible for transforming the repair shop from a dirty. unproductive organization to an energetic originization capable of completeing depot-level repairs.
-Member of casualty training team that trained three highly compent watch teams for a successful Operational Proupulsion Plant Examinization, resulting in “fleet high excellent” award - a feat not accomplished by any other steam cruiser in naval history.
- Developed and scheduled a comprehensive ship’s force overhaul work package intergrating logistic support and manpower allocation.
- Technically proficient in repairs of high pressure air compressors, and 900 gpm fire pumps.

1981-1989: Machinist Mate, USN – Promoted from E-1 to E-6 during this period, operated and maintained, main propulsion steam engines, and associated systems (condensate, lube oil, circulating water, etc.) compressed air, potable water system, AC&R, steering system, valves, anchor windlasses, and winches.
-Assisted NAVSEA in correction of rotor imbalance of low-pressure propulsion turbine.
-Developed and implemented repair package of over 150 jobs completed by ship’s force and Charleston naval shipyard while assIgned to the USS LASSALLE (AGF-3).
-Qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specalist while assigned to the USS MOINESTER (FF-1097). Was selcted as Sailor of the year 1985.
- Responsible for diesel repairs to small boats, diesel generator, refrigration plants, air condition units, and chiller units. Gauge and thermometer calibration tech.
