1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

I am a time-served pipe fitter with experience of working in a range of different industries, as well as this I also have my industrial rope access level 1 (Irata). I have experience working with a range of pipe work including carbon steel and stainless steel in a wide range of sizes. I have experience of working with most kinds of instrument pipe and fittings (swagelok). Able to read and understand all isometric, P and ID, plan 3rd and 1st angle drawings. I also have welding experience in MIG, Manual Metal Arc and TIG welding processes. During my time as a pipe fitter I have gained a lot of experience using instrument pipe and different types of gauges. I have also achieved a progressive range of engineering qualifications at Halton College over a four-year period. I can work from engineering drawing and health and safety is integral part of my work culture.

Nov 2008 – Present Various Agencies and Companies
Working onshore and offshore on power stations such as Longgannet and insulations such as the turn alpha (shell) and the Schiehallion (BP). Using pipe ranging from ½ inch to 20 inch, including instrument pipe of all sizes and fittings.

Aug 2008 – Nov 2008 Global Resources, Aberdeen, Scotland
Working Offshore on the shell gannet. Working on pipe work ranging from 1/5 inch to 20 inch. Changing out fifteen 8-inch double block and bleeds in the wellhead area. Installed the instrument pipe work for the gauges and the actuator valves. Performed hydrostatic test on pipe work testing for leaks. Bent and installed small bore instrument pipe old for new and new control panels.

May 2007 –Aug 2008 Wood Group, Aberdeen, Scotland
Working in a number of different sites ranging from off shore (Forties Delta, BP ETAPS, BP Schiehallion, BP Lomond, Montrose and Magnus) to petro chem sites my main role was pipefitting using a number of different materials in different sizes ranges from 1/5 inch to 24 inch. Installed new and reinstalled instrument pipe for various plant applications.

Mar 2007 – May 2007 Rullion
Working on a new build for an animal feed distributor. My duties included installation and fabrication of 1” – 10” stainless steel pipe work. Bending and installing instrument pipe work for the actuators and panels.

Feb 2007 – Mar 2007 LES
Working on conoco oil refinery in Humberside for a three-week shutdown. My roles included working on a range of pipe work from half inch to ten inch. As part of health and safety when breaking containment BA was worn in which I have received full training. Fitted a range of actuators including the instrument pipe for the air.

Jan 2007 – Feb 2007 Matchtech (Agency)
Working on a BOC site for a one-week shutdown. My roles included destruction of a range pipe work and valves for inspection. I also fabricated a range of new pipe work from 1 inch to four inch.

Jan 2007 – Jan 2007 Thermal Energy Construction
Working on huntstown power station in Dublin for three-week contract. Fabrication of carbon steel pipe work for a drainage system, the line ranged from 6 inch to 20 inch.

Dec 2006 – Dec 2006 Matchtech (Agency)
Working on a BOC site for a one-week shutdown. My roles included destruction of a range pipe work and valves for inspection. I also fabricated a range of new pipe work from 1 inch to four inch, including small bore instrument pipe work.

Nov 2006 – Dec 2006 Mane Employment (Agency)
Working on a water treatment plant for a three-week contract. My roles included fitting 12 inch stainless pipe work and a range of valves and flow indicators.

May 2006 – Nov 2006 Wood Group, Aberdeen, Scotland
Working in a number of different sites ranging from off shore (Forties Delta, BP ETAPS, BP Schiehallion and Rough Brava) to petro chem sites my main role was pipefitting using a number of different materials in different sizes ranges from 1/5 inch to 24 inch.

March 2006 – May 2006 J S M Engineering, Garston Railway Station Liverpool
Installation of carbon steel and stainless steel pipe work. Another part of my job on the station was a verity of structural steel work.

Jan 2005 – March 2006 J.E.T Mechanical and Civil Engineering Contractors
Approximately 50% of my time is spent in the workshop with the other 50% being spent on site. When in the workshop my main duties include fabricating and welding steel pipe work and brackets. When working on site my main duties include welding and installing various sizes of pipe work and removal of redundant pipe work and machinery. I also bent and installed small bore pipe work for various panels and other control systems.

Aug 2004 – Jan 2005 Lorne Stuart, Bishop Square Construction Site, London
Fabrication and installation of carbon steel pipe work ranging from 6″ – 14″ nominal bore with flanged connections. These service lines where to supply water and natural gas utilities to a large office complex.

May 2004 – Aug 2004 A & P Birkenhead Shipyard
Carrying out general fabrication and welding tasks using MIG on the manufacturing of zinc coated mild steel office blocks.

Jan 2004 – May 2004 Furmanite, Heathrow Airport Contract
Fabricating and erecting steel frames, fitting fireproof boards and sealing with fireproof mastic in a road traffic access tunnel, this being part of the new ‘terminal 5’ project.

As a fitter / Welder, I was involved with the repair and maintenance of a range of equipment as used in the moulding of canoes and kayaks. The main equipment included aluminium moulds, ovens and auxiliary items. I also fabricated and welded a range of special purpose racks for storing canoes / kayaks and carriage for transporting moulds into the ovens.

As an apprentice pipe fitter / Welder, I spent approximately 60% of my time working in the workshop and the other 40% of my time at various customers’ premises across the UK. When in the workshop, my main duties included: cutting / shaping / preparing materials and pipe work for fabrication, welding tanks and associated structures using TIG and Manual Metal arc processes, soldering and assembly of copper pipe work systems, assembly of mechanisms (i.e. gears trains, pneumatic cylinders, chain drivers and belt drives), fabricating / fitting safety guards and making a range of gaskets. Fitted lots of instrument pipe, valves and gauges as a lot of these machine run on air (i.e. cylinders, doors, valves and gauges) When on site my main duties included: installation, modification and servicing of special purpose solvent cleaning plants and installing pipe work and ducting ventilation systems.
