Human Resources Manager / Personnel Manager with a 5 stars Cruise Line Company. (Shipboard HR in direct daily communication with shore side HR)
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Ensuring the best HR practices is delivered by following HR policies and procedures through precise communication.
• Effective handling of all staffing needs and issues – crew consisting of average 300 crew, 47 different nationalities.
• Close liaison with all department heads for effective performance evaluations and career planning.
• Communicates rotation schedule and changes to department heads, as well as individual crew.
• Offers support to all crew in capacity of counselor and confidante.
• Acting in the capacity of chairperson for all social welfare matters and recognition programs.
• Representative for shipboard HR during disciplinary processes, ensuring fairness, while in line with ITF restrictions and Company Code of Conduct.

Project (HR) Manager (contractual) for the InnStaff branch at Sun City, Northwest Province. I was responsible for efficient running and organizing of 1200 temporary staff, overseeing 4 Contract Managers and assisted by 2 administrators. In charge of all Human Resources related issues, sourcing, employing, chairing disciplinary action, as well as representation at CCMA.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts 6/2003 – 5/2005

Sheraton Oman Hotel, Middle East

In Position of Human Resources Manager, as well as Training Manager. Responsible for the training needs analysis and training implementation thereof, for 280 associates. Training conducted of ALL Departments and related programs.
As HR Manager, I was responsible for the daily operation and correspondence received from Head Office. This included the implementation of the groups’ standards for all personnel. Responsible for NATIONALIZATION, increasing levels from 40% - 60% over a 12-month period. Dealing daily with new candidates, disciplinary actions, promotions, implementation of salary scales and general improving staff environment such as locker facilities, and canteen, monthly recognition, staff accommodation, audits etc.
Six Sigma - Participating as team leader/Sponsor in Project/Process Innovation and Improvement
As part of Hotel Management, my duty was also to perform Duty Manager shifts over weekends, during which time the responsibility of the whole hotel fell on me.

As Training Manager my responsibility was to analyze and design training courses, as well as the implementation thereof. I also had to plan and write the Workplace Skills Plan and Implementation for the Government on the Hotel. The hotel staff consists of over 200 employees from management to casual staff, and I was responsible for the training of all, from managers to cleaning staff. I was also Duty Manager in weekdays and over weekends, overall responsible for the hotel.

Our survival course at Bronkhorstbaai consisted of dinghy drills, shooting of flares, and hoisting with an Oryx helicopter. I also received intensive training on all the Air force aircraft, such as Hercules C130, Dakota, Citation, Mercurius, Boeing 707, and Challenger.
