GUPCO (Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company) is a major oil company in Egypt is a joint operating company from EGPC.and BP in different places in Egypt ( Ras Shukier, Ras Baker, West Desert, Dahshoor, Port Said). Gupco produce +/- 150,000 BOPD. About 100,000 BOPD from around 300 producer wells, most of them producing using artificial lift ( gas lift system) and support the reservoir pressure by around 120 wells injector . The company has a large number of satellites with a long length of piping lines; each satellite has at least four lines (production, testing, High pressure gas line, water injection line) and complete staff from engineers, technicians and workers with different races.


Job Title Petroleum Engineer / District Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities in the District Engineering Division

• Well Integrity ( High Risk Well ) team
• Choice the most efficient artificial lift methods based on well conditions and
surface facilities.
• Evaluate the lifting system applied.
• Evaluate the well performance (inflow and outflow)
• Gas lift system design and evaluation as the following:

1. Gas lift design and redesign.
2. Gas lift survey programs and analysis.
3. Perform different studies on the injection gas requirements for gas lift wells.
4. Trouble shooting and unloading the producing wells at optimum Flowing
conditions.
5. Programming and witness on gas lift survey and gas lift Change.
6. Determine the optimum IGLR
7. Gas and production choke optimizations.

• Familiar with gas lift software computer programs.
• Study the following cases:

1. The effect of separator pressure on the well performance and consequently the
total field performance.
2 .Pipe line studies: evaluate the pipeline performance between the small
production stations and the main complex stations or any two points.
3. Study the effect of water cut on well performance.
4. Evaluate the type of completion to determine the optimum size of completion.
5. Good user for computer window software programs (FLOSYS-PROSPER).

• Preparing stimulation, work over, well test, wire line, and perforation programs.
• Review the producer and injector performance from daily production/injection
reports and try to improve the production /injection efficiency by keeping
the withdrawal =1.
• Monitors the surface facility performance using gun heat survey and pressure
survey to avoid any scale build up and prepare schedule program for pigging.
• Performing and/or witnessing the following offshore jobs:

1. Chemical jobs ( Matrix Stimulation, Tubing Cleaning, annulus cleaning, pump
cleaning for ESP pumps, and scale inhibition)
2. Perforation jobs (TCP and Through Tubing Perforation)
3. Well logging (Production logging tool (PLT), Thermal decay time(TDT),ultra-sonic
inspection tool (USIT), water flow log (WFL), Density and porosity logs ( LDL,
CNL), Resistivity log)
4. Well tests {Repeat formation tester (RFT), pressure build up (PBU), pressure fall
off test (PFOT), Static Survey(S.S), Step Rate Test( SRT), Gas lift survey (GLS)}
5. Wire line jobs (Tubing Gauging, Gas Lift Valve Change)

• Analyzing gas lift surveys and evaluating wells performance to develop and
Implement remedial solutions for the problem wells.
• Troubleshooting and unloading producing wells at the optimum flowing conditions.
• Prepare plan for schedule complete shut down for problem platforms.
• Drawing X-sections and determining offset wells relationships to develop a recom-
mendation or the following as required:

1. Water shut off using MPBT, casing patch, or cement squeeze.
2. Perforation & reperforation with rig (TCP gun) or w/o rig (through tubing gun).
3 .Rig and rig less recompilation.
4. Stimulation and tubing cleaning.
5. Mechanical work over.
