For the past 7 years I have worked as a Driller on a Diesel Electric 3500m, telescopic double, top drive (land based Rig) and Kelly Bar Single/Double. I worked a rotation of 14/7 (which varied depending on staffing) which consisted of working 12 hours a day or more when required. During my role as a Driller I gained international working experience while employed in Australia for a period of 6 months.
In 2007 I wrote my 2nd line test which allowed me to further my career and work as a Toolpush/Rig Manager.
My duties consisted of, but were not limited to:
Ø Controlled the operation and directed the activities of the rig crew
Ø Maintained the safety of the crew
Ø Worked in both hot and cold extreme temperatures and followed safety regulations for both
Ø Maintained records of drilling operations
Ø Obtained drilling core samples
Ø Set up rigs on new drilling sites, as well as tore out rig to be moved when required
Ø Operated controls of the drilling rig and hoisting machinery including equipment such as pumps for air, water and mud, and equipment and tools used to correct problems in drilled holes caused by mechanical breakdowns or by harmful natural conditions
Ø Hired and fired crew members as necessary
Ø Trained new employees
Ø Ordered parts and supplies when required
Ø Read gauges to monitor pressure, density, rate and concentration and adjusted pumping procedure as required
Ø Operated and maintained drilling rig diesel motors, transmissions, pumps and drilling mud systems, and mix mud chemicals, cements and additives
Ø Resolved work problems and recommended measures to improve productivity
Ø Kept up to date records, certifications and implemented PMS schedule
Ø Entered necessary information into companies computer database
