| 1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory] |
I have completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MB BS) in 2001 from the University of Mysore in India. I have undergone a one year internship in various departments like medicine, surgery, gynaecology etc, and have worked as a general practitioner for almost five years. The practice was in a rural area and was equipped with a fully functional operation theater and basic diagnostics like X-Ray, ECG, Spirometry, Biochemistry Laboratory etc., which has given me a fair bit of exposure in assisting surgeons and in post operative management as well. I have also worked with the corporate health sector, where my duties ranged from on site physical check ups to conducting workshops in Basic first Aid, Diabetes risk management, Cardiovascular disease risk management, Asthma etc.
I have recently taken the IELTS examination and have scored an overall band of 8.5 ( 9 in Reading, 9 in Listening, 7.5 in Writing and 8 in Spoken module). I have current certification in Basic Life Support and advanced cardiovascular Life support from American Heart Association, which is obtained after a hands on training workshop and stringent training program. I am well versed with working on computers, using medical related softwares and MS Office. Being a trained medical professional, I also have a sound knowledge of medical equipment and terminology. I have excellent communication skills and am used to interacting with patients and their relatives regarding health issues, and educating them further with regards to the same. I also have around one year of experience in teaching clinical skills and basics of internal medicine to nurses.
I would suit this position because I am a trained medical professional and have excellent communication skills. And since I am well versed in topics regarding health, I would be able to adapt faster to your needs and not require an extensive training to start with the assignment.

| 2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory] |
I have worked for 4 years and 11 months as a full time General Practitioner in India, and my experience has been assessed for the same by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. The said assessment also gives me more than seven years of post graduate clinical experience, and a copy can be provided on request.
|
| 3. Education & Training - CV/Resume Part 3 [Mandatory] |
MBBS from University of Mysore, 2001
Internship from KR & Allied Hospitals, Mysore, from 2001 to 2002(September)
|
| 4. Computer Skills - CV/Resume Part 4 [Mandatory] |
Proficient in basic usage, MS Office and internet. Have worked with a variety of diagnostic and other medical related softwares.
|
| 5. Other Skills - CV/Resume Part 5 [Optional] |
I have done the following procedural work regularly in the last 5 years of my practice :
IV canulation using a scalp vein infusion set, and an IV catheter.
Collection of venous and arterial blood samples for investigation purposes.
Collection of sputum samples for AFB testing(routine screening of all suspected cases of Tuberculosis)
IV, IM, SC, Intra dermal, Intra articular injections, as and when required
Insertion and removal of a Naso gastric tube(Ryle's tube)
Insertion and removal of Urinary catheters(Foley's catheter is most commonly used)
Lumbar Puncture(Spinal tap) for collection of a CSF sample(usually employed to diagnose/rule out meningitis)
Pleural tap for diagnostic purposes(Tuberculosis is a common disease, and many cases present with Pleural Effusion) – A canula is introduced into the pleural space under local anesthesia using strict aseptic precautions, after taking a written consent. Care has to be taken to get a Chest X Ray after the procedure to rule out the possibility of a bleed or a pneumothorax having occurred as a complication. In case of a pneumothorax, the point of entry is in the upper part of the chest, while in a case of pleural effusion, the most dependent part is utilized(mid axillary line). Emergency drugs are always kept at hand to be prepared for vaso vagal syncope, which is a complication associated with the procedure(have done this procedure under supervision, and have observed numerous times).
Ascitic Tap or Paracentesis is usually performed for aspiration of fluid from the peritoneal cavity. This procedure also requires a written consent and is always performed under strict aseptic precautions, preferably under Ultrasound guidance.(generally referred to a specialist, but have done this procedure 5 times under supervision, and 2 times unsupervised in the last 5 years).
Suturing of skin lacerations is done under local anesthesia using strict aseptic precautions. Routine suturing is done using plain cotton thread(sterilized by autoclaving) or black silk. Lignocaine 2 % is the routinely used local anesthetic
Excision of lumps like small lipomas, fibromas, sebaceous cysts etc is done routinely in the procedure room by the GP.
Incision and drainage of abscesses – due to a fairly large number of migrant laborers in the region where the practice is located, we get a lot of these on a routine basis.
I have performed CPR many times during my practice as a GP. I also hold a current certification as a Basic Health care provider and an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support provider from the American Heart Association.
Foreign body removal from the ear, nose and eye are performed if no specialist is available.
Per Rectal and Per vaginal examination of patients.
Venesection for burns/severely dehydrated patients(observed many times, have only done twice in my practice).
For higher procedures, the patients are referred to tertiary care institutions.
