2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory] |
Paradigm Geophysical Corporation, 2006-now
Processing Center Manager, Mumbai, India; and Houston, Texas, USA (01/2006-now)
Interacted with the clients, and managed the time / depth imaging projects with both land and marine surveys.
Trained for the solutions with Wide or Full Azimuth seismic datasets on the imaging in the Local Angle Domain, Structural Attributes, and Full-Azimuth Residual Moveouts – Azimuthal Anisotropy – Kinematic approach.
Performed 3D anisotropic Pre-Stack Depth Migrated (PrSDM) and 3-term AVO inversion for density and S-velocity. Manipulated borehole log data, gravity, and seismic velocity anisotropy / dispersion to analyze the deformed zone along the base of the salt for pore pressure support on drilling wells.
Sovereign Oil, Parallel Data Systems, Inc., and Unocal Corp. 2003-2005
Consulting and Contract Geophysicist, Houston, Stafford, and Sugar Land, Texas (12/2003-12/2005)
Solved for clients, teams and junior geophysicists on Seismic Data Acquisition and Processing Strategies in problem areas. Supervised and quality controlled contractor’s seismic AVO imaging and high-resolution Radon with cost / contractual issues to achieve project goals.
Unocal Corporation, 1984-2003
Advising Geophysicist, Sugar Land, Texas (09/1995-11/2003)
Established the velocity model building and time / depth imaging of diverse geologic settings (Permafrost, Tertiary fluvial deltaic, clastics, limestones and carbonates) with a regional frame of petroleum systems. Worked on Congo offshore JCM-1 well-tie and anisotropy issues. Designed a cost-effective AVO angle stacks from PrSDM data in Deep Water (DW) GOM on Gocad / Landmark platforms for successful lease sales and development farm-in opportunities.
Handed-on in all aspects of 3D and 2D seismic data interpretive processing for both international and domestic projects. Solved the sea-bed point-diffraction and shallow gas-hydrate caused Nightmare multiples issues in DW Indonesia, over-burden amplitude corrections for AVO modeling and analyses to double the oil and gas reserves. Integrated various geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and engineering data in modeling oil and gas reservoirs characterization. Mapped rock properties on the Mad Dog and the Trident (Play Opener of the Perdido Foldbelt) discoveries and developments in DW GOM.
Generated well-log based synthetic seismic AVO gathers both with and without seismic Q-compensation. Derived / applied the seismic Q factor functions to double the seismic resolution for meandering channels and multiple pay-zones. Created innovative seismic Q-Compensation solutions for complex gas clouds problems in marine P-wave data with higher resolution and new reserves to reduce drilling risk.
Sr. Applied Geophysicist, Los Angeles area, California (09/1984-08/1995)
Developed the much needed link between Landmark Graphics SeisWorks and the in-house proprietary advanced features in DLPS called Areal Trend Logging Analysis System (ATLAS). This link offered interpreters the opportunity to quickly examine the rock properties for a given area, or identifying the relationship of porosity and density to specific faults in a Map View window.
Ported AVO and Seismic Inversion Techniques onto new UNIX system. Developed a DLPS-based interactive program that uses the Krief-Ward equation, Nur-Marion method, and Gregory-Pickett solution to compute the effect of lithology and fluid/porosity on the pseudo S-velocities. Wrote a report on the findings of comparison among SLIM, PIVT, STRATA, and other inversion techniques for identifying shallow, high potential gas/oil play in the Dollarhide Field, West Texas. Reconciled teams needs of volumetrics on Bibiyana 3D and Moulavi Bazar 2D Inversion. Validated the seismic interpretation with mis-matching contour maps on the real seismic data and the inversion results.
Accomplished Unocal’s first in-house seismic data merging and re-processing on five 3D seismic surveys with different energy sources and geometries in the Gulf of Thailand. The project was completed ahead of schedule with excellent quality. Client was very encouraged by the results of several new faults and much better resolution. The interpretation was greatly improved especially at the borders of individual surveys to reduce the drilling risk for new reservoirs. Extensive travels to Thailand and Indonesia for verbal presentations of projects and technology transfer.
Generated seismic attributes, cluster analysis, and cluster summary data for better seismic facies distribution and reservoir characterization in a project for analyzing seismic lines more than the previous 3 years total amount to successfully acquire three leases in Alaska Lease Sales #69A based on this work.
Processed the Abu Dhabi regional land seismic data as coordinator with other processors. Generated the best seismic sections and the contoured maps of the cluster features in the Cretaceous intervals according to the interpreters’ opinion.
Introduced the Borehole Geophysics processing and seismic attribute/cluster analysis to Unocal using the standard Western Geophysical I-QUEUE and batch software. Improved the borehole and surface seismic ties for interpretation and reduced the dry-hole cost.
Geosource Inc., Houston, Texas
Supervisor of VSP Services (02/1983-08/1984)
Supervised the ongoing production of several projects with Quality Assurance methods and ensure production requirements are achieved by planning, organizing and tracking of projects. Communicated priorities and turnaround requirements to clients, management and processing groups, interfaced with clients on project status and technical issues, consulted with Operations, Marketing, Systems Administration, Programming and R&D departments.
Seismograph Service Corporation, Houston, Texas
Group Leader of Borehole Geophysics (12/1980-01/1983)
Led as a group leader for check-shots and Vertical Seismic Profiles (VSP) surveys design, data processing and analysis. Prepared the presentations and reports of the group’s technology and the processing results to the oil companies’ geophysicists. Saved over million dollars by special processing to avoid the cost for re-acquiring the borehole seismic data but still can meet the client’s objectives including look ahead of drilling bit from VSP inversion.
