Outside Sales Representative
Account Manager for a distribution company and manufacturers representative providing valves, actuators, valve automation, pumps, mixers, flow meters, level gages, instruments, and service and repair of related products to the oil and gas, refinery, power and petrochemical markets. Interact with a diverse customer base (engineering, procurement, and field service personnel) to identify, create and maintain relationships and offer solutions to meet industry demands.

Miller Aquatics, Inc., Houston, Texas 1996-2007
Vice President of Business Development (2006-2007)
Directed the sales and marketing effort for this $4.5M aquatic facilities management company, which provided lifeguarding, swimming lessons and pool maintenance for 125 pools across the Houston area. Created and executed contracts, monitored contract compliance, and interacted with customers to ensure high rates of contract renewal. Developed and executed annual marketing plans.
• Created a partnership with a competitor to increase market share and profitability. Transitioned 75% of customers, 50% of employees, and coordinated the purchase of assets, management, and sales software. Result: $700K new revenue.
• Presented and demonstrated an internet-based camera monitoring system to current and prospective clients. Launched camera technology to customers, becoming the only company in the industry in the Houston market to provide this service. Result: The new approach provided a competitive advantage in the market and allowed the company to operate safer and with less customer complaints.
• Secured new insurance provider. Changes in the industry standard for insurance coverage resulted in the need for an audit of insurance policies. Let out bids for general liability, worker’s compensation, and excess liability policies and negotiated policy terms. Result: Saved company $60K by switching provider.

General Manager (1999-2006)
Managed eight full-time direct reports and 1,000 seasonal employees. Recruited, trained and mentored the professional staff. Selected subcontractors and vendors, reviewed proposals, and consulted with legal counsel to strengthen company practices.
• Worked with the IT Director and helped design and then implement an employee monitoring system used to track and confirm daily work activities. Generated field data and tested technology to ensure accuracy of the data. After deployment, became the only company in the industry to provide “Timeclock” technology to its customers. Result: Improved facility management, positive customer feedback, and improved customer retention.
• Designed and implemented a computerized bid proposal generator to increase throughput for creating proposals and contracts. The system also generates several financial management reports to ensure profit optimization. Result: Doubled company revenue ($1.8M to 4.0M) in 30 months.
• Led the expansion of the organization to accommodate growing business volumes. Robust company growth required the addition of eight department heads. Created job descriptions, hired, and trained new-hires. Result: Despite the rapid growth and increased operational demands, we renewed 90% of business and improved customer service ratings.

Regional Director (1996-1999)
Managed the aquatic programs at 50 sites in the Houston area. Recruited and managed more than 50 seasonal employees and ensured contract compliance at each facility.
• Developed a new line of business for the company. The need for new revenue opportunities changed the company focus to aquatic management. Prospected, developed relationships, and presented proposals to prospective clients. Result: Effectively marketed the new services in the Houston area and exceeded goals for company growth for three consecutive years.
• Created an operations manual and employee training program to comply with city and state regulations. Developed timeline for completion, delegated responsibilities to management team, and tracked progress daily. Result: Project was completed one month ahead of schedule.
• Adjusted advertising/recruiting campaign in response to increased competition for employees. With less than three weeks remaining before the start of the swim season, led brainstorming meeting to devise new ways to find employees. Directed the implementation of the process that included: high school and college recruiting, flyers and posters at area pools, radio and television ads, and major/local newspapers. Result: All positions were filled in time for the season’s opening day.
