1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

A mature, accomplished, self-motivated and professional team member and manager with a progressive 20 year security career in both the military and private security sector, which has developed a high degree of initiative, reliability, organisational, leadership and training skills. I am currently working as the Security Manager for a power generation plant in Nigeria. As such, I am responsible for all aspects of security including the management of a 100+ guard force covering 5 separate locations together with the physical security of all company assets and personnel. In addition, I have been, and still am, responsible for security surveys, the proposal of security recommendations at the initial planning stages of projects and following them through to full operation, the writing of security policies and procedures, intelligence gathering and community liaison.

During my military service I conducted security surveys of the British Diplomatic Missions overseas before being made a MBE for my service in Afghanistan in support of the FCO. Additionally, I am currently studying towards a MSc in Security and Risk Management at the University of Leicester.

Security, Risk and Community Liaison Manager Nigeria Dec 07 – Present
The Security Manager responsible for the physical security of an electrical power plant in a complex, emerging market, being responsible for a guard force of 100+ indigenous staff at multiple locations. Developed intelligent target hardening measures during the construction phase of operations including CCTV and access control systems. Other responsibilities included the development of community programs in respect of nurturing horizontal communication channels into the local community, in order to reduce and resolve conflict; liaison with State and Federal security services to develop covert security provision, thus reducing the signature for expatriate staff whilst at work and in transit; assisted in the development of information sharing forums with industry and local partners, so as to better track, interpret and respond to developing internal/external risks and threats; liaison and reporting functions to State and Federal actors, and international stakeholders.

PSD and Training Team Member - Iraq Sep 06 – Nov 07
Commander of a security operation responsible for the security of an oil company’s management and the integrity of its infrastructure. Previously part of the command chain responsible for the security of a high profile US General. These positions involved continuous liaison with the client, threat assessment and situational awareness in a high risk environment. Developed and implemented security protocols and carried out security reviews. Liaised both nationally and internationally at a strategic level.

Personal Protection Officer & Security Manager - Afghanistan Oct 02 – Jun 03
Attached to the British Embassy, Kabul to provide protection to the Ambassador, diplomatic staff and visiting government officials. Conducted reconnaissance and commanded the team on extended visits to various regions throughout Afghanistan. Responsible for the security of the Embassy; including conducting security surveys and making recommendations for security improvements, the monitoring and evaluation of current operational procedures together with the management, training and employment of local security staff. Ensured security of all office and residential locations. Within this volatile environment, security considerations for all moves had to be evaluated and updated daily. Position required geographical awareness, including threat analysis and cultural awareness catering for the diverse nature of diplomacy overseas. This service resulted in the award of the MBE.

Close Protection Unit - UK & Abroad May 01 – Oct 02
Employed as an instructor and part of the operational standby team, ready to deploy at short notice to locations worldwide. Responsible for the instruction of close protection and security techniques in both the UK and abroad. Some of the subjects covered in this training included weapons, walking drills, anti-ambush drills, searching, defensive and advanced driving techniques. Conducted reconnaissance of British Diplomatic Missions abroad and a six month attachment to the Australian Army instructing close protection techniques to the military personel.

Army Training Regiment - UK Dec 99 – May 01
Responsible for the management, leadership, training, administration, motivation and discipline of 50 personnel involved in initial military training and for the maintenance of records detailing their progress. This position required exceptional instructional skills, both excellent written and oral communication skills, together with close liaison with outside agencies.

General Police Duties - Germany & Bosnia Apr 97 – Dec 99
Commander of a Military Police Section and Unit Training Sergeant responsible for the policing and security of a major garrison in Europe. The role also entailed the overall responsibility for the training of a Military Police company, instruction and co-ordination of in theatre and external courses together with the maintenance of all training records. During a deployment to Bosnia I was employed as the bodyguard to the Deputy Commander of Operations; a British 2 Star General.

Personal Protection Officer - Algeria Sep 96 – Apr 97
Attached to the British Embassy, Algiers to provide protection to the Ambassador, family and visiting officials. Responsible for the supervision and training of local security staff together with the continuous evaluation of operational procedures, formation and implementation of security measures at both the Embassy and Ambassador’s residence. This post required cultural awareness combined with excellent management, liaison and communication skills.

General Police Duties - Northern Ireland Jun 94 – Sep 96
Responsible for the collation of information relating to terrorist incidents together with the training and briefing of service personnel relating to operations in Northern Ireland. This position required close liaison with other security agencies utilising excellent oral and written communication skills in an extremely demanding environment.

Attached to the British High Commission, Nicosia and responsible for the protection of the High Commissioner.
