Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for a Temperature Sensor:
• Wrote a program to output LM34 temperature sensor reading using PORTE (PE6), the analog input port of an HC11 microcontroller. The A/D results were read from location ADR3 (address $1033). The OPTION ($1039) and ADCTL ($1030) control registered had to be configured to continuously scan for the analog input. The LM34 had linear characteristics with a 10mV/oF slope and the circuit was not designed for negative temperatures. With 8-bit ADC and a +5V reference, the resolution was 0.0194 volts per bit providing a resolution of 1.94 oF/bit. The ADC reading was to be multiplied by 194 and then divided by 100 to obtain the temperature in oF.
