Expertise in the field of engineering services for buildings including all aspects of design from concept through handover and also associated control systems. Particular areas of technical expertise are in mechanical services including HVAC (air condiitoning, ventilation, heating, cooling, humidification and dehumidification), public health services (water systems), drainage systems, compressed air, steam (low and medium pressure), LPHW heating systems, boiler houses and distric heating sytems. For the last almost four years he specialsed in the design of clean rooms and containment (pressure cascadeas, laminar flow booths and fume cupboards), local exhaust ventilation and dust extraction systems.
He gained expertise in containment driven retrofit projects covering refurbishment and upgrades of existing facilities. His 8 years of progressive experience includes the integration of existing equipment with new equipment and services and trouble-shooting and resolution of problems with existing systems.
Projects included: Pharmaceuticals, Breweries, Laboratories, Shopping Malls, Sports Centres, Factories and Housing.

Key Project:
Jagiellonski Park I Inkubator Technologii in Krakow
Detailed design of HVAC and Public Health of new two buildings for Life Science Technology Park in Krakow. The project entails a new facility comprising two buildings with mainly laboratories class CL1&2. The new facility comprises also canteen with kitchen for researchers, fitness club and conference rooms. The project has been through a thorough conceptual design and full detail design.
Working within in-house multi-disciplinary teams, generally acting as building services engineer carrying out detailed design calculations such as heat gains using advanced Excel spreadsheets and Design Builder software for more complex rooms, air handling units loads, ductwork pressure drop calculations, drainage systems (external and inside services), preparing equipment schedules, detailed design schematics of ventilations systems (CAV systems and VAV for labs) and writing specifications.

HVAC detailed design of the upgrade of an existing healthcare facility in Drys area to meet MHRA requirements. The requirements comprised modification of existing AHU’s (replacement of cooling and heating coils), providing new extract fans and most of the ducting, wherever possible existing ductwork being retained, especially LEV systems. The supply and exhaust systems for the drys area of the facility were upgraded to satisfy revised pressure regime, increased rates of ventilation and introduction of air locks.

HVAC detailed design of a new building for the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences in Brighton.
A new facility comprises the university's biggest lecture theatre with a seating capacity of over 300 and multifunctional lecture rooms. The new building spans 9 floors across two buildings, incorporating an entrance foyer and student communal study area, as well as clinical skills, clinical practice and teaching rooms, a histology lab and a microbiology research lab class CL1&2.
Carrying out detailed design calculations such as heat loss and gains using thermal modeling software, air handling unit loads, ductwork pressure drop calculations, preparing equipment schedules and detailed design schematics and layout drawings (HVAC Zones, ductwork distribution co-ordination), CHW and LTHW pipework design.

February 2005 – April 2008 Building Services Engineer

Novartis Vaccines, Speke, Liverpool, Zone 1 and 2.
Part of new pharmaceutical GMP production facility (total development worth Ł120m comprising six zones) for the manufacture of Fluvirin vaccine product (triple antigen flu vaccine). The facility comprised of rooms with GMP Grade D (class 100000) and Grade C (class 10000) and biohazard containment level CL2 “enhanced”. The facility included several HVAC zones serving specific areas, room types and classifications. A controlled pressure cascades were provided for product and occupancy protection. A centralized Building Management System (BMS) provided close control and monitoring. A further Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) provided monitoring of critical room temperatures, pressures, humidity and room particulates product batch reporting. Detail design for Zone 1 & 2 and front-end design for Zone 3 (Pre Pandemic Flu Facility).
Carrying out detailed design calculations (room environmental matrix, heat loss and gains calculations and air-conditioning requirements, air handling units and re-heat batteries sizing, leakage through ductwork, partition openings, openings at containment boundaries, detailed ductwork pressure drop calculations), preparing equipment schedules (selection of ductwork types and moisture eliminators, scheduling equipment such as extract fans, attenuators, safe change filter housings, supply diffusers and extract grilles, pressure relieve dampers), preparing detailed design schematics and layout drawings (GMP & Containment philosophy, HVAC Zones and Equipment block layouts), developing design concepts, carrying out site surveys and defects snagging.

GSK Quality Assurance Laboratory - building N12, Glaxo Smith Kline, Priory Street, Ware, Hertfordshire
New QA Laboratory Air Conditioning System in existing building. Due to deep layout rearrangement almost whole existing ventilation system including utilities was stripped out and new one was installed with minimum disruption to laboratory work continuity. Scope of works comprised replacement of existing Air Handling Units with new ones and merging existing Fume Cupboard exhaust systems into new one with one fan.
Design of air-conditioning system with a combination of air terminals and perforated ceiling panels, ductwork and pipework routing based on site surveys, coordination with civil, architectural and electrical teams.

Ahlstrom Fibre Composites Plant, Chirnside, Duns, Berwickshire
New facility producing polyester fabric. Detail design of HVAC including several air-conditioning/ventilation systems (Air Handling and Close Control units) along with central heating and DX systems. Utilities included natural gas, town water, mill water, chilled water and compressed air.
Carrying out detailed design calculations (sizing of Air Handling Unit, Close Control Unit and Heat Pumps, LTHW design), preparing equipment schedules, preparing detailed design schematic and layout drawings (equipment block layouts, HVAC layouts), developing design concepts, operating on I.E.S. Virtual Environment software to model energy use, coordination with civil, architectural and electrical teams as well as with equipment suppliers.

March 2004 – November 2004 Production Operative/Machine Operator at TOYODA GOSEI in Rotherham. DANUM SOLUTIONS, 9 Duke Street, Doncaster DN1 3EA, UK
Duties include: machine operating, material handling and packing.

SCA Hygiene International Centre Distribution in Olawa, Hall No1 and No2, Co-operation with PM Group Poland
Design of building services and utilities for new warehouses for the SCA Hygiene. The project has been through a thorough conceptual design, basis of design and full detail design. The new facility comprises of a warehouse, distribution area and administration. The project comprised of air conditioning (conference rooms), mechanical ventilation of the office and distribution area, domestic water systems, drainage systems, fire protection (hydrants), LHPW (office area), boiler house (285kW) and radiant system for a warehouse.

Brewery “Okocim SA” in Brzesk, Beer Processing, Tank Farm and Brew house, Co-operation with PM Group Poland.
Design of Building Services and utilities for existing facility for the Brewery Okocim SA. The requirements for the facility comprised replacement of plant and the ducting, LHPW, water system and drainage system (within building). The supply and exhaust systems for the brew house were completely re-designed to satisfy new requirements the client (e.g. increased rates of ventilation within main hall). The project comprised of air condition for MCC room, mechanical ventilation in process area and lockers, natural ventilation in brew house as additional ventilation during summer time, steam sub-stations for domestic hot water and general building services.

NSK Steering Systems Europe (Poland) in Walbrzych, Co-operation with PM Group Poland.
Design of Building Services and utilities for new car steering systems production plant for the NSK.
The new facility comprises of main production hall, warehouse, engineering workshops, administration and gatehouse. The project comprised of air conditioning (conference rooms), mechanical ventilation of the office and production area, domestic water systems, drainage systems, fire protection (hydrants), LHPW (office area), boiler house (570kW), unit heaters for a warehouse, gas system and compress air.
