CAREER HISTORY:
May 77-April 85 Zapata Marine Services, Seahorse, Shell Oil, Tidewater, and Victory Carriers. Sailed as Master, Chief Officer, 2nd or 3rd Mate aboard various vessels working worldwide, conducting liquid, bulk, container, and break bulk cargo operations and transportation. Conducted salvage operations, ocean tows, wildcat oil rig cargo supply, anchor handling and ship lightering operations. Responsibilities included the safe navigation of the vessel, vessel operations management, crew management, the safe handling of cargo and project manager for multi vessels salvage, special anchor handling, tow operations, rig moves and dead ship tows in remote areas where there was little or no shore support. As master I was responsible for training my crew in safety, security, oil spill, and emergency response operations. During shipyard stays I was responsible for extensive conversions to the vessels anchor handling winch as well as over haul and upgrading of deck machinery for use in deep sea anchor handling operations. As master I served as shipyard supervisor aboard several vessels for extensive equipment upgrades, engine room overhauls, managing all aspects of vessel maintenance, crew management and shipyard projects.
1985-April 1993: Sailed as licensed Master and/or Pilot aboard ocean going offshore tug vessels for Moran, Buchard, Eklof, Weeks Marine and independent owner operators. Operations included but not limited to the safe navigation and towing of Oil Barges, conducted ship docking operations, tow the 600', 30,000 ton dredge Long Island, towing the 22,000 ton coal barge Caribbean from Norfolk to Narragansett bay and Bridgeport CT, towing large heavy lift crane barges, construction equipment, dead ship towing and the towage of bridge sections for the Spite and Divel bridge, NY and Jamestown bridge construction project in Narragansett Bay. Also sailed as a self employed Pilot/Master for various small owner operated tug companies where my duties included sailing as vessel and project master, managing several vessels and crews during bridge construction operations. Rig and prepare special tow operations as master/pilot. Outfit and successfully towed numerous multi barge/vessel operations.
