CV/Resume Details
1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

I have grown up with drilling in my blood, as my father was a driller his whole life as well.
I am a fast learner and adapt easily in different situations. I am also a stickler to rules and adhere to them as far as possible.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

1989-1991 Core driller, Boart Exploration Services
I was a diamond driller for three years. I was responsible for the drilling of deep down as well as incline holes. The installation of the survey instruments and the wedging tools were also my responsibility. The day to day running, admin, storekeeping, and personnel matters were in my job description. I am experienced in different types of drill rigs such as Sullivan, Seco, Mindrill, etc.

1991-2001 Percussion driller, Dept. of water affairs and forestry. (Government).
I was a percussion driller for 10 years. During this time I became experienced in different types of drilling, RC, Odex, Mud rotation, and of course normal water drilling.
I was utilized in different areas, such as the Kalahari Desert, Calvinia region, Vryburg region Polokwane region and also the Free State. I am experienced in different kinds of development techniques and pump testing of boreholes. I am also experienced in the handling of the TMC’s, (Truck mounted cranes). We also had to do a yearly course for HAZCHEM. I had to organize the movements of the equipment to new sites. I was responsible for the drilling equipment as well as the other vehicles, such as the ten ton trucks, water tankers, diesel tankers etc. I have experience in different types of drill rigs, such as IR, Shram, Thor, Halco, Atlas Copco, etc. I was responsible for the day to day running of the rig and team. I also had to do minor maintenance and repairs as there wasn’t always a mechanic available. During the last two years I was promoted to artisan foreman.

2001-2004 Drilling inspector, Dept. of water affairs and forestry. (Government).
I filled this post for three years. It was a contract post for two years and was extended for one year. I was responsible for three drill teams, a pump test unit, and the workshop with one mechanic. The monetary value of the plants was almost sixteen million rand. I was responsible for the yearly budget of about four million rand, as well as the monthly and quarterly cash flow checks. It was my responsibility to ensure that the teams had all the logistical support that they needed, and that the workshop had all the resources it needed.
This I had to do by means of telephonic and personal dealings with suppliers all over the country. I had no admin assistance and was the only person in the office so I had to do all the day to day works myself, which I liked, because I work my best under pressure. My work area included the Northern Cape, North West and the Free State province. I was responsible for all the personnel admin, which included the quarterly evaluation, courses that was to be attended, leave or salary problems, etc. I was also responsible for the yearly roadworthy tests of al the vehicles. For the last year I was utilized as Acting Division manager. During this time I managed to get other departments to use the division as well, as to date the division only drilled for DWAF. I was also trying to get the division to drill for the private sector, to generate a cash flow.

2004-2007 Cabinet maker, worked for myself.
After I left DWAF, I started my own business in which I built and designed kitchens; I also built wardrobes, bars, shop fittings etc.
I learned a lot about the running of a business, advertising, bookkeeping, etc.

2007-2008 RC Driller foreman, Hammerstein mining and drilling; Namibia.
I worked as a RC Driller foreman for a year in Namibia.
I was contacted by the firm and they asked me if I could help them with RC drilling as it was the first time that they had to do RC drilling. They got my contact number from DWAF after they asked around for a competent person, and DWAF referred them to me. My main objective was to train their drill teams how to drill with RC equipment. I accomplished this in one year. They mainly use IR (Ingersol Rand) equipment, but they also use Atlas Copco and Thor drilling equipment. I introduced them to MinCon drill hammers and bits as they used Halco drill tools. The problem with the Halco equipment was that it could not get good enough penetration rates and wore off much too fast. MinCon got a lot more penetration a lot faster. I am at this stage not working for anyone and would like to get back in business as soon as possible.

2008- Drill supervisor, Namura Mineral Resources Namibia
I am working as a drilling supervisor for Namura Mineral Resources in Namibia.
I am responsible for diamond rigs as well as RC rigs. We use only Canadian drills such as Discoveries and Hornets. The Discoveries, which is the diamond rigs, is mainly used in flat areas, whereas the Hornets are used for slinging jobs on the slopes of mountains. With the diamond rig we drill BTW size with depths of 200 to 300 meters. Core sampling is essential, for the exploration of uranium, but we use the diamond rigs only for grid drilling in the flat areas. We do RC drilling because next to core drilling, it is the most accurate way of getting uncontaminated samples. I share the responsibility with another supervisor, but because I am the only one with core drilling experience, I am utilized with the diamond rigs.
It is my responsibility to ensure the continuous production of the rigs. This includes on the job training, evaluation of personnel, as well as machinery. I am also responsible for the ordering of the correct consumables, day to day admin, services and repairs of machinery and personnel problems.
