I am writing to you as I located your company whilst searching the internet for job possibilities on rigs both off shore and land based, to see if you can help in any way.

I have always been interested in a career on the rigs but have thought that it was an unachievable goal. However, after working for nearly 20 years as a tiler and general builder, I feel that I have a level of maturity and respect that this, what many consider a dangerous occupation, warrants. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, I have realised that it is not an easy profession to access.

Therefore, I am writing to see if there is any advice you can give me that would help me secure a successful entry of ´roustabout or junior welder´ or if you ever receive job opportunities at this starting level. Even though I do not have any academic qualifications, I am hard working, reliable and a good team player and believe that as it is something I have always wanted to do I would not only excel in this line of business but prove to be a valuable member of any unit.

R.G. Flooring - Tiling Apprenticeship 1990-1996
Started apprenticeship learning all aspects of tiling including preparation, setting out,
laying and grouting. Styles including diagonals, mosaics on both walls and floors plus
geometric flooring.

Val Fix - Tiling Contractor/Self Employed 1996-2002
Originally began working for Val Fix as a sub contractor for McGinley Builders for 3 years. I then became self employed and continued to work for Val Fix for a further 3 years.
Covered all aspects of domestic tiling including floors, walls, complete bathroom installations and assisted on full kitchen re-fits plus major contracts including Northern Line Tube Station re-fits.
Whilst self employed I also worked for Greenwood Tiling where I worked on mainly large contracts including Blue Water and the British Museum and Smart Ceramics which was predominately warehouse projects and office re-fits including Saatchi and Saatchi main office.

Premier Ceramics - Own Business 2002 - Present
Moved to Spain and started my own business covering all aspects of domestic
tiling plus more involved projects including full apartment conversions (3 bedroom to 2
bedroom and bathroom enlargements) and Linekers Bar in Puerto Banus (all
interior tiling and terraces).

No academic qualifications

Basic knowledge of computers and navigation of internet

Experience of the following
Knowledge of all tile types – Ceramics, marble, porcelain, granite, slate, mosaics,
quarry, terracotta, all natural stones and epoxy resin.
Walls, floors, terraces, swimming pools
Complete bathroom installations and kitchen re-fits
Basic plumbing, electrics, plastering, brick work
